OpenCPN low resolution on Macbook Pro

I today installed OpenCPN on a Macbook Pro (OS v 10.12.3). I also installed it as a windows version on the same Mac running Windows 7 in a Parallels virtual environment.

Both installs were straightforward enough, however, the resolution of the Mac version is noticeably lower than the Windows version. Both are using the same CM93 charts.

I can't see anything obvious, nor reference to this in other posts. Any pointers in the right direction in order to resolve this would be welcome.

BTW. I downloaded the latest version of OpenPCN for Mac, and some ENC charts, but it made no difference.

macOS 10.12.3 is outdated. Make an update to 10.12.4 to avoid severe security holes.

I'm not sure how to turn it on/off on the Mac. I thought Mac handled OpenGL well, as opposed to Windows, and I'm assuming what I have is a Mac issue, not Windows?

Ah, another update, released since I checked for updates last week

Will do, thanks for pointing that out.

Just try to enable/disable OpenGL within OpenCPN in both cases.
Options|Display|Advanced --> use Graphic acceleration

And out of curiousity: How is the resolution of the screen defined under macOS and W7?

I tried enabling/disabling on both (disabled by default) and it made no noticeable difference wrt the issue I'm seeing. Screen resolution for both is 2560x1600, which is what I'd expect really as the Windows implementation is using the Mac hardware.

Odd? I'm still downloading - another hour to go - will take a look when done.

wietieth...

We will need some comparison screenshots (Mac vs Windows) in order to understand and analyze further.

Thanks

As a comparison, I zoomed-in with each implementation until the TSS layer became visible, and took screenshots - attached.

Re: OpenCPN low resolution on Macbook Pro

Mine is reporting 10.12.4 now too - after the next update session lasting again two hours.

Btw.: your screenshot shows OpenCPN version 4.2.0

The actual one is 4.6.1
Time to update as well? Impossible to search for issues from two years ago, I fear.

That's a very good point. The Mac is running 4.4.0, but I thought I'd upgraded that to the latest yesterday - clearly not... :-(

Now that's interesting - if I run the Mac implementation from 'Applications' I get 4.6.1, if I run it from the Mac toolbar icon I get 4.4.0.

BTW - the issue I'm seeing is still present running 4.6.1
