Re: OpenCPN low resolution on Macbook Pro

I still do not understand your screenshots:

to compare screen resolutions or renderings you shall use the same chart at the same zoom. With the same settings for the vector charts in both OS.

This is not the case in your examples.

Is it not? Oh, let me check, apologies if I've been misleading.

Re: OpenCPN low resolution on Macbook Pro

Maybe better to compare these two as I'm not convinced the same chart was used for the last two I posted

Interestingly they're both x3.2 but the size is different.

Re: OpenCPN low resolution on Macbook Pro

Now we are getting closer I think..

What your are reporting is the scale for the two systems, not a resolution or blur.

Parallels is a VM , virtual PC, so the questions is how the screen size is reported back to OCPN to determine the scale.

The log files in the two systems will tell you about the detected screen size.

Just for fun the place as it is drawn with the oeSENC vector charts below on my Windows PC.

Hmm... So Windows is detecting the correct display size, but Mac is not. Odd that Mac is getting its own display size wrong?

Mac logs
Metrics: m_display_size_mm: 286 wxDisplaySize: 1280:800

Windows logs
Metrics: m_display_size_mm: 903 wxDisplaySize: 2560:1600

Not quite but it's got the 2560:1600 correct...

I guess it's resolved in as much as we can now see why there's a difference, but I'm still bemused as to why the Mac implementation thinks it's a 1280:800 display, yet the Windows implementation gets it write (other than the assumption of a huge screen, but perhaps that's based upon the 2560:1600 it's detected).

Incidentally, in the advanced display settings of OpenCPN I just selected manual and gave it a 903mm screen size - it's looking a lot better

Thanks for all you help, much appreciated.

Oh, so which charts are the 'nice' ones?
