unable to install OpenCPN on my MacBook Air running Safari.
I get the following errors...

Safari can’t open the file “OpenCPN_5.8.2-0+458.9f64845.pkg” because no available application can open it.

macOS cannot verify that this app is free from malware.

It is a standard macOs installer package, no application is needed to open it, right-click the OpenCPN_5.8.2-0+458.9f64845.pkg file and select Open from the context menu.

You are just encountering MacOS safeties. Have you tried googling your error message?
