Re: Opencpn Dokuwiki Migration -MOB- Help Needed!!! MOB

I see the Help page was a better choice for me than the Man Overboard page.

I hope not creating more work for you than I'm contributing.

I don't have a "source" button on the manual page. Look at these screenshots.

Shouldn't I be able to paste the raw HTML source into the DW Edit window and go from there? It doesn't seem to work, but I can't figure out why.
Darn, sorry I forgot about that. There are two modes "Rich Text Editor" and Plain Text Editor" You need to go to the bottom of the edit area and hit " Switch to Rich Text Editor"

I forgot about that detail! See Fabbian, Druple CKG Edit is just as complicated. Two modes!

Also the Source button at the top left of the rich text editor does the same thing, if you have it showing to click on.

Re: Opencpn Dokuwiki Migration -MOB- Help Needed!!! MOB

I've noticed that sometimes the translators html to doku and visa versa, get some little things scrambled, like image ahead of part of a title, and mislabeling titles with something different, like bold. This may also be due to bad formatting in the original document too!

Actually I think it is the original document formatting.
Also one of the pros on the forum, says Chrome does better cut and paste (closer to the actual formating of the orginal document) using the CKG Editor.
so I might try it.

No, I used braces. If you saw square brackets it's because dokuwiki changed them.

Although it seems like an easy solution, it makes the manual non-portable. All references to other parts of the manual should be relative references, not absolute ones.

Good to know.

It will work.
Two comments.
(1) The first form is an absolute reference. If you later move the manual you'll have to revise all those absolute references. The second form is, I believe, a relative reference that will be preserved so long as the directory structure remains unchanged. There's a way to make URLs relative, but I've forgotten it.

(2) Those braces in the second code snippet should be square brackets, shouldn't they?

Yes sometimes I feel like I am drowning too, particularly starting this up learning the dokuwiki and configuring with no experience. They've been very helpful though on the forum.

Just got the Right Click page done.

Re: Opencpn Dokuwiki Migration -MOB- Help Needed!!! MOB

I just finished the Night Navigation page. I was very careful not to disturb the indexmenu line but still it disappeared and Night Navigation is now at the top of the Toolbar Buttons list.

My method on this page was to copy the HTML code (Edit) from the original manual. Using DW Edit I pasted it into the dokuwiki page. To be sure I didn't disturb the existing text with which the page was pre-loaded I moved the cursor to the bottom of the page, then added a carriage return, then pasted.

I went through the code manually looking for formatting instructions that needed to be changed. For example, I replaced <strong> and </strong> with "==== " and " ====". Periodically I previewed the page and compared it with the original manual page (View) to help me figure out what the HTML tags were trying to do. Often there were superfluous tags left over from someone's WYSIWYG editing--we don't need <strong></strong> tags for every word in a sentence, for example.

Everything worked pretty well except for that indexmenu line. If you can fix that problem for me I think I'll have a satisfactory workflow.

1. Agreed. I think we want relative, but I was just showing how the URL will help us figure out what path to use.

2. You are exactly right [[ ]] for document links.

Re: Opencpn Dokuwiki Migration -MOB- Help Needed!!! MOB

Night Nav page

When in DW Edit mode (with CKG Edit button showing on the bottom menu)
put
{{indexmenu_n>12}} -twelve down

in the first line.

----

Fabbian you are doing fine, and this is great. You might try some experiments because you should be able to have the html automatically transferred to dokuwiki format.

Copy from Druple Edit mode when in Rich Text Format (no html showing)
Paste into Dokuwiki when in CKG Edit mode. Then try Saving it.
When you switch from the CKG Edit mode to the DW Mode, it should translate html to dokuwiki.

Then I have been editing that in DW Edit mode, but whatever works for you is fine!

I'm hitting the hay we have to get up early to catch a plane will be back on line in the afternoon.

I'm not sure I understand your recommendation. I put
{{indexmenu_n>12}} in the first line. Dokuwiki ate it. Did you fix it? The line is in there now and the page is back where it belongs.

I'm working on the Plugins pages now. I tried
{{indexmenu_n>13}} -thirteen down
on the first line. Dokuwiki changed it to -thirteen down and displayed that text. I tried again with
{{indexmenu_n>13}} and Dokuwiki ate it.

I don't have an option for Rich Text Format. I can only choose between "View", "Edit", and "Outline". In "View" mode I can read the manual but not edit it. In "Edit" mode I see the HTML source. In "Outline" mode I am offered the opportunity to rearrange parent/child relationships between pages.

Fabbian,
I wish I could take a sceenshot, but please look down at the bottom of the editing area, just below there should be "Switch to Rich Text Editor" OR "Switch to Plain Text". That will change the editor mode!

Look at the first screenshot where it shows "Plain text editor" Click on that and you will see the html and the selection will change to "Rich text editor". Hit that and the html dissappears and that content is what you want to copy.

Not on my screen. I'm running the current version of Firefox and I don't get any choice about editing mode. Maybe you haven't updated your browser in a while so that feature isn't broken yet.

According to your link, Rich text editor (misspelled as Rick) is the default. But it just isn't available to me.
