OpenCPN Charts requirements

Hi all. I have not been here since 2019 for various private reasons and have gotten a little rusty regarding getting back on using OCPN with my earlier recorded CM93 raster KAP/MAP and ENC charts. I have run the update in OCPN but none of the charts shows up. Is there some function missing in my Windows software I wonder? Appreciate your help.

Probably need to click on the shifting spanner (crescent wrench) and have a muck about in the "Charts" tab part.

Hi. Not sure what you mean by shifting spanner?

I have all possible charts initiated but they don't show? Am I missing some major file to read the maps?

How about removing (in OpenCPN) all the chart directories, rebuilding the chart database to ensure OpenCPN really sees no charts, then re-add the chart directories and again rebuild the database.

Presumably you have enabled and configured any plugins needed for your chart types?

Finally, if you have too many different charts OpenCPN can bog down. Move the charts you really want to use into their own chart group and select that group to view (they’re numbered 0 (for the default all charts group), 1 for the first custom chart group, 2 for the next, etc.).

There are two tabs, one says "Chart Files" and the second "Chart Directories". I don't know how significant each is but assume "Chart Directories" tells the computer where to go look for them in storage and Chart Files" which files in the various Directories to use and consequently you need them both.
