Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1015 Released

What happens if they use the o-charts plug-in instead?
(remember that you can't request charts or updates from the actual o-charts shop with the beta o-charts plug-in).

Highly recommended to use the OCPN beta in parallel with the stable version of OCPN....

I've asked him to update catalog master. Install a possible oeSENC update and try again. Let's see..
Hi Hakan,

I also saw the 0.0.0 Oesenc version on my Ubuntu version of the Raspberry Pi.
That version does not work here.

After installing the version 0.9.0.39 instead, it works perfect with the Oesenc charts with the Flatpak O version. I only use the flatpak version.

You probably have this version available.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1015 Released

Bram..

0.9.0.39 is the o-charts plug-in, not the oeSENC PI.
The latest one is 0.9.0.42.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1015 Released

Hi Hubert,

OK Are I only using the wrong name ?

I'don't see the updated version. But the .39 version works perfect on my test Ubuntu Impish for the RPI.

How to get the latest version ?

Update plug-in catalogue? The Beta catalogue...

I'm on macOS with the 0.42 version.

bcn..
There are plenty of actions to handle this. Update oeSENC...Delete config file...sometimes a couple of O restart.
But.
For, what some call, the average user this is not a comfortable situation--> A trusted update crash at once!
And o-charts_pi is not official before O 5.6 so I wouldn't recommend that.

If this can't be solved we may prepare "the average user" for this and strongly recommend to update oeSENC and other plugins before the O update?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1015 Released

Hakan...
We really need to see the logfile for the crash situation.
What seems to be happening is this:
1. If a plugin is listed as version 0.0.0, it means that some plugin .dll was loaded OK, but that plugin does not appear in the currently loaded catalog. Probably that means that the user uninstalled OCPN, so reverted to the "default" master catalog. This catalog does not contain many of the most modern plugins, including oeSENC_pi.

2. Normally, that situation would not cause a crash. The next catalog update by the user would sort things out, and the correct version would be reported, including any available update to the plugin.

3. However, if the "old" plugin crashes on activation, then we really need to know what exact version that plugin was. And we can get that from the logfile. If we find that it always crashes on O55+, we can add it to the "blacklist", and never try to load it again.

So, as you see, the logfile is critical.
Thanks
Dave

Dave..
Yes, I've asked for the log file.
The plugin version 0.0.0 seems not unusual after O beta update. See the user's shot. Also VDR is 0.0.0?

- OCPN is uninstalled by the update process but the config file normally remains.
- It can be the plugins still lives in "C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\" if not updated by using the pluginmanager?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1015 Released

Lack of translations:
Win10. Swedish. Today's master code.

Track properties lacks translations, see pict.
Date format as earlier discussed is the US format. Since month 21 is not real even users here may be suspicious but in beginning of a month it can be misunderstandings.
Strange since the code is correct: m_stAvgSpeed = new wxStaticText(itemDialog1, wxID_STATIC, _("Avg. speed")
and the translations in Crowdin are several years old.

Hakan...
1. Lack of translations on TrackPropDialog:
Strange indeed. Any other dialogs fail to translate?
Anyone else experiencing missing translations?

2. TrackPropDialog timestamps format:
I have adjusted the printing format, in github master now.
Please confirm correct with sv_SE locale.

Thanks
Dave

Dave..
Ooops.. That post wasn't supposed to be uploaded. Apparently he didn't listen.

1. My bad. I'm sometimes to fast wo a clear mind. There is no problem with translations here! Works fine. Sorry.

2. Yes confirmed! Now the date format is following the language settings. Thanks.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1015 Released

Here the outcome of my tests on a Raspberry Pi4 2 GB working from an SSD/usb3 version USAP. Running from an USBstick 3.1 and of course from an SD.

All OpenCPN's running in the flatpack version in combination with SignalK input.

Debian Bullseye 64 works very well and fast. Although the O-charts plugin is of the wrong type not for an Aarch64 processor. Trying another plugin from the Ubuntu Hirtute OS gives the comment not compatable OS.

RaspiOS 64 bits works well and also fast but gives an indication of a wrong path and therefore it is not possible to make aan icon.
Start is always from the terminal.

Ubuntu Impish 64 bits works very well but is still lacking of the serial ports setting.

These are all new 64 bits OS versions an give a great improvement in the performance.

The O flatpak versions work very stable in the different OS's

All these OS's can run from a fast USB 3.1 stick (read 300 mb/s) and from an SSD (fast USAP) and usb 3.1.

With these there is no need to use an SD card. But the RPI needs the latest Eeprom version to start from an USB.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 5.5.1015 Released

Small correction:

Usb ports don't work with the usb of a GPS-mouse in the latest Ubuntu Impish version

However if I connect the Canable or Actisense NGT-1 then the NMEA2K is working and gives the position in OpenCPN via the SignalK server.

In that way the usb port works.
