Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

I just noticed that you can't set range rings on a waypoint in 4.6.22.

You can click the box for range rings and you can set the number of rings, but the boxes to accept distance between rings and ring color are gone. The labels are there, but the input boxes are missing. Tested this and it works correctly on 4.6.1.

Check to see if there is a scroll bar at the bottom of the window. Maybe you need to scroll a bit to the right to see the distance setting box.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

That's exactly what the problem was. For some reason, the waypoint dialog box was narrow and the input boxes were hidden. Not sure how the size of the box changed??? Works fine now that I've resized the box!

Thanks!

Nothing showed up except the spinning wheel.
That is horrible.

The spinning wheel indicates the system is busy, as I'm sure you know. If everyone else who has tested the program does not have the problem perhaps you need to look for an installation problem on your computer. Have you checked your log file for any indications of a problem?

I reverted to 4.6 and all work fine; it is only when you use 4.6.22.
Point final.

I am at 4.6.22 on Windows 10. When I right click on a waypoint icon it is highlighted with a yellow square and a pop up menu appears. If I select "Properties" from the pop up menu it immediately displays the properties dialogue box. If I double-click on the waypoint icon the properties dialogue box immediately appears.

I have never experienced a version where a single left click on a waypoint icon brings up a properties dialogue box. It shouldn't work that way and if it did in some version that was a mistake.

Since no one but you seems to get a busy pointer when trying to select "Properties" from the pop up menu I still think that points to some problem with your system.

Do I remember correctly that it was with version 4.6.1 that you could open the properties dialogue box with a single left click? Now that you have reverted to 4.6 do you need to double click to open the properties dialogue box or right-click to raise the pop up menu?

Of course, you can drop back to any older version that works for you, but freezing the version you use will deprive you of any subsequent improvements to the program. Dave made it clear that it was a mistake for 4.6.1 to bring up the properties dialogue box with a single left-click on a waypoint icon, so the only way you can preserve that behavior is to stick with 4.6.1. But if you are OK with the correct behavior (double click brings up properties dialogue box, right click raises pop up menu) then we would like to help you solve the busy pointer problem you are experiencing.

If OpenCPN is waiting for something that isn't there I would expect to see an entry in the log file identifying the problem. It isn't guaranteed, but it is certainly a good place to look. Since many other users have reported they can open the waypoint properties dialogue box without a busy pointer it seems that reverting to an older version is not the best approach.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Look Fabbian in the version 4.6.0 you right clik on the waypoints icon and the properties box open the same with double click also. Know you right click on the icon and it turn yellow and the spinning wheel for long time no access to the properties box. If you use Esc somethimes it will come up sometimes not.
The problem is existing and it as nothing to do with my computer it is the only program that does that. Better take a look at what was done. I have no hard feeling for your own information. I will wait for future version.
Have a good day.

P_Dub...

A little more information can help us here.

1. Are you using OpenGL?
2. Do you have any UserIcons loaded?

Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Hi there,
I'm still having a freeze problem with O. This started some short time after 4.4 (4.4 is still OK).
Even with a complete fresh install of 4.6.22 as well as updating with my own compile of the latest sources, and no plugins at all O hangs up if I do a full overzoom using the mouse wheel. Mouse cursor starts flickering (hour glass<--> normal arrow) as soon as O is in full overzoom.
Try the following, using the mouse wheel :
zoom in till full overzoom, out a bit (some clicks on the mouse whee), in again till full overzoom, out again and in till full overzoom.
Mouse cursor starts flickering as soon as O is in full overzoom. Then move the chart sideways with the mouse once or twice, et voila.... freeze ...

This is reproducible on my 2 laptops ...

Here is my setup:
Win7 64bit, using CM93.2 (only), OpenGL on

Everything's fine if you don't zoom in till full overzoom ...
The annoying thing is: after a long day of sailing, using full overzoom to enter a bay for anchoring, the whole days track is lost on hangup ...

BR,

Thomas

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Since 4.6 I've noticed OpenCPN is slow to start. I'm running 4.6.22 on Windows 10 now. When I launch OpenCPN my chart appears quickly, then I have to wait about six seconds before the toolbar is painted. I remember the program starting much quicker before. Have others noticed the delay?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Well here we go; I made a complete new re-instal 4.6.22 and it works for showing the icon informations. That is probably the problem when installing over a previous version.

Bye
