Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Rick/Bram/et al...

You do not need to rebuild the .ini/.conf file manually. Get a tape measure. Use the text entry field in options->Display->Advanced->Physical screen size. Tick the "Manual" box, and type in the number.

These problems are the reason that entry field is there.

The accuracy of that field will become more important over time, as we work to correctly support monitors with ultra-high resolution.

Hello Dave,

now changed the screen setting by hand. Not automatic.

This gives indeed a much smaller Tidal icon.

I now also see a lot more depth information on the charts.

The Raspian screen setting is still automatic.

However it is now more difficult to get the tidal graph on the screen.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Dave,

My GPS makes nonsense. It often jumps away from the actual position of the boat. See the screenshot attached. It's boring. Would it be possible for OpenCPN to ignore these exotic positions?

Unable to put comments in the saved track. For example, if the GPS gives exotic positions or if it stops working, it would be nice if an automatic comment would indicate this, in one way or another, in the recording of the track.

Gille, In Route & Mark Manager, under right click on a track point, pick properties I can enter Name, Here to There & Comment. All but Name don't show up on the Route & Mark Manager list at this point, but it does seem to work. Am I misunderstanding something about what you said?

It is true that I do not mention comments entered manually but comments automatically recorded by OpenCPN.

In my mind, the role of the track recorder is to be a part of the "logbook" and must therefore, and should, contain information relating to all incidents occurring on board.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Dave :

Other item not present in crowdin :
- Local CPU clock
- Local GPS clock
- Local Sunrise/Sunset

Question : What is the difference from these two instruments :
- Sunrise/Sunset
- Local Sunrise/Sunset

Thank by advance.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Gilletarom,

these are items added for the additional instruments for local and system (=PC) time.
We had UTC already, and now you can display the other options as well.

Question : What is the difference from these two instruments :
- Sunrise/Sunset = UTC
- Local Sunrise/Sunset

I will take it into account in translations as soon as the crowdin will contain the missing item

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.6.22

Dave,

This should be in a thread on the GRIB plugin but like this one is embedded in the heart of O, I'm talking about it here.

This is CAPE information. If we look for information about the risk of a storm, it appears that this risk becomes a certainty as soon as the CAPE climbs to 2500. So, around 2500 should have the color corresponding to the maximum risk of storm.

This is exactly what happens with Zygrib.

But with OpenCPN, the color of the maxiumum risk of thunderstorm appears well before this value. Already around 700 or 800, with OpenCPN, one can believe that the storm is certain.

Would it be possible to correct this and use, for the CAPE, a color scale similar to that of Zygrib?

Dave,

it is about opening the tidal graphic via the tidal indicator.

If you like to have the tital graph on the screen, you have right click on the tidal indicater several times to find the right place.

Can the tidal Icon not extended in combination with a second one. So that in one click the tidal graph can be opened or a square in the middle of the tidal indicator.

Regards,

Bram

Edit the config file and manually disable all Plugins.

Should not crash (in the same place) if all Plugins are disabled.

Try again, enabling one by one, to see what causes the crash.

Dave,
Somehow I managed to f***up my system. After a complete reinstall everything works fine. Please forget about this report.

Re: Tidal & Current Graphs - Right click

Ov4.6.2 Win10 on Laptop, both open with one right click. I have to wait for Orange Current Graphic, just a little longer. Used to do 2 right clicks thinking that was necessary. It is not, it comes up slower.
