OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.221

Ahoy, OpenCPN'ers...

OpenCPN Version 4.5.221 Beta will soon be available for download from opencpn.org.

Or download directly here:

4.5.221 Beta Release Notes

41. Add ENC Text tool "A+" to iENC mode, Remove "Zoom+" and "Zoom-"
42. Disable hiding of iENC toolbar
43. Correct several elements of iENC toolbar rendering.
44. Improved DC (non-GL) quilted text rendering.
45. Improved vector chart zoom slider interaction with "Reduced Detail at small scale" option.
46. Correct legacy ENC Plugin display (e.g.S63)
47. Adjust default configuration settings for better initial ENC display.
48. Establish 'N' as hotkey to return to Standard display in iENC mode.

Comments:

1. Please check your Flyspray tasks, and clear if possible.
2. Consider this Beta to be the "last call" for language updates on the crowdin site. Let me know if any strings are missing or untranslatable.
3. It is now time to check carefully (again) the special Inland ENC mode for compliance with the specification. I believe the GUI aspect is complete. Now we should be concerned with general usability and rendering fidelity.

Good Luck
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.221

InlandECDIS mode:
shortcut "n" does not work for me (W8.1) directly after modifying the Presentation mode at the iToolbar.
Once clicked on the canvas or panning/zooming it does work as expected,

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.221

Normally I am working with two screens on my W7. When I move OCPN 4.5.221 from first (main) screen to second screen, the iENC toolbar remains on the first screen in its original position and is not moving.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.221

And I think this one we have seen previously (always with "reduced detail at small scale" enabled)

Dave...

are the InlandECDIS strings in Crowding? I'm missing for example the "Use Settings for Inland ECDIS 2.3" string

This warning has been around for years. It is harmless. I cannot see an easy way to make it go away either. The DLL linkage works just fine.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.221

InlandECDIS, presentation levels

- At start-up "Standard" shall be presented - now is "Minimum"

- the following two object types should be added to "Standard"
1. - berths
2. - distance marker
(they are now in "All" but belong to "Standard")

Is it a new issue?
I don't think so. light sectors, text and AToN aren't drawn last and could be hidden by a chart drawn later 'above', it's an issue with rectangular charts where AToNs nearly disappear.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 4.5.221

No, not new, this has been discussed with S-63 some time ago.
The Australian AHS charts come to my mind.

But as we will have now a big bunch of vector charts for other areas than US waters this issue comes up again.
And this surfaces only with "reduced detail at smaller scale".

When everything is drawn the sectors are there.

But as you say: how to assure that the sectors of a light from a chart "lower in the batch" = smaller scale will be drawn completely. Or texts..
