Release 3.3.1931

Notes:
300. Furuno and Garmin users take note.
302. The big thing here is the option to rebuild and flush OpenGL Raster Texture Caches.

Otherwise, doesn't look like a very big list.
But there are many, many small bug fixes and performance enhancements which together will hopefully improve the day-to-day useability and reliability of this Beta Release.

We are getting pretty close to a Releaseable feature set. The Devs will now be looking at some of the more popular Feature Requests for inclusion into the final Production Release. Stay tuned.

Please check and clear your Flyspray issues, if possible

Thanks, and good luck

Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

Hi all...
The beta PPA at https://launchpad.net/~nohal/+archive/ubuntu/opencpn/ is updated to 3.3.1931. It has been working well for quite some time, which was boring, so we have some related news:
- The boring one: No more saucy packages as the release reached it's end of life
- The exciting one: We've been approved to use Launchpad to build packages for ARM, so from now on you can use the PPA packages also there (on Ubuntu 12.04 and newer) This stuff received no testing so far, so I will be grateful for your feedback.

I would also like to express thanks to everybody contributing to the translations at https://crowdin.net/project/opencpn/invite - especially the Brazilian guys did an extraordinary job there (of course besides the always active Norwegian, Swedish, Dutch, French and German translators) Still we would appreciated more help there, more than anything with the languages currently lacking a maintainer.
With this release, the translation updates were pulled just into the core tree, I will fetch the updates to the authors of all the included plug-ins shortly as well.

Cheers

Pavel

Baikal...
Simply connect to the NMEA stream from the GPSGate server. Some more info in DSC and Buddy via AIS. | Official OpenCPN Homepage, AIS | Official OpenCPN Homepage and NMEA Sentences | Official OpenCPN Homepage
This feature is poorly tested as none of the developers has access to the server, so testing is more than welcome.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

Pavel, thanks for the info!
to receive messages from gpsgate server - client must login username password, specify the name of the device. This description of the client settings gpsgate.
yet it is not clear how to connect
recently gpsgate buddy tracker service was abolished and left only vehicle tracking.

If anyone is interested in the development of this capability, can provide access to my gpsgate server with GSM terminal.

This version does not execute in Windows 7 Ultimate version. It closes immediately upon opening. I can't find why?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

3.3.1931 Again crash after some hours as portable. Pls compare my earlier post about the same thing on 3.3.1911: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1594673
3.3.1931 seems stable as main navigation tool, however when It runs as portable beside my main program it crashes after approximately one or more hours. It’s not directly connected to .1932 but some earlier versions and forward. For the moment I switched to 3.3.1117 as portable using the same conditions and that’s stable.
Environment:
-Win7 32 bit.
-3.3.1931 as main program transmitting NMEA throughout UDP broadcast.
-3.3.1931 and other as portable beside the main receiving NMEA by UDP.
-The portable uses CM93 from the same directory as the main.
-Before the crash it didn't turned to night mode as last report for 1911 but all on screen windows was flashing up and down and when I eventually succeed to end the portable OCPN the others returned to normal. A crash report was created and it's downloadable by this link:

Hakan...

I tried to reproduce this failure, but could not. But maybe I am not set up properly.

Could you send a screen shot of your environment?

I'll take a look at the crash dump now.

Thanks
Dave

Hakan...

I looked at your crash dump.
Did you build 3.3.1931 from source for this test? If so, I cannot use the dump file. The .pdb debugging information does not match up with my locallly saved information.

Will you try again with the as-released 3.3.1931 binary?

Thanks
Dave

P_Dub...
Runs just fine on my W7 Ultimate testing machine. Could you, as a test, remove all the plug-ins and move your data directory to a backup location and if the program starts, isolate the cause, first returning the configuration and then the plug-ins, one by one, to see what exactly is the origin of the problem?

Dave..
Yes it was build from source. I'll download the released binary for the portable only if that's ok for you. I would like to keep the main from my source since I use some local adaptations for my old Simrad IS15 instruments. (The same as for earlier not crashing versions.)
These crashes has only occurred while crousing using my nav-pc and only after one hours or more. But I'll make a test when we have leaved this Caledonia Canal probably on Monday after some sightseeing tomorrow.
Thanks for your care/Håkan

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

Dave,
your 3.3.1931 Mac version includes two versions of wxWidgets libs, 2.9.5 and 3.0.0.
Why?
In 3.3.1931 there is no Apple menu anymore to close the program. In 3.3.1606 it was there. A minimum of Mac style guides is needed to make the program usable for Mac users.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.3.1931 Released

Gerhard...

1. I don't know why the 2.9 libs are in the package. I'll check the build scripts.

2. "In 3.3.1931 there is no Apple menu anymore to close the program"
I don't know which menu you mean.

Thanks
Dave
