802 & 814 on osx 10.6.8 ... clicking on the night mode icon through the 3 clicks works.... but only affects the toolbar... GPS status bar an chart bar.....chart screen remains unchanged.

The dialog tells you, that you have to restart OpenCPN yourself to change style. How does it hang? Can't you get rid of the dialog?

Which charts are you testing?
Not all charts have built in dimming levels. The US RNCs have this feature, for example. Try testing one of those, and report back.

Hi Thomas... to clarify ... when the restart dialog appears the spinning cursor also appears ........an stays, not allowing you to click restart, force quit is the only option.

I am a little limited in the OSX testing systems department, but to get more info for those who have one, could you try going into the Route manager and click "Delete all routes" or "Delete all Waypoint" or similar?
That will exercise a lot of the same wxMessageDialog stuff, maybe give more info on where the problem lies.
(if those hang too, it looks like a UI dialog issue, if they are OK it looks more like specific settings issue)

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released
Reading this thread, one can't help but notice the professional level and cooperation going on between many facets of OpenCPN, various versions of OpenCPN and another program QtVLM. It is quite remarkable development, at a fast pace.
Thank you all!

I see the arrow graphic issue, should be fixable.
But I cannot understand the failure to recover from minimize. Works fine for me when I click the upper right minimize icon, app goes to the taskbar, click on the taskbar and it reappears.
More information, please.
Thanks

Dave,
I could reproduce the problem. I started opencpn from a terminal, minimize it and then it failed to maximize. It left a residue on the screen, apparently part of the status bar.
The log does not show anyting of interest.
I'm compiling the lastest, will check if the same happens.

I can see that the compass window is orphaned as well.
This is consistent with earlier reports of those windows not moving along when the main window is moved under wxW 2.8.10. Somehow child windows seem to be less connected to the main window...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.814 Released
Double Click on WP, Click OK to dialog box, Tool Bar disappears, left ckick anywhere and Tool Bar reappears. This was on XPSP3, using Opengl, and cm93 charts.
Route Properties don't havethis feature, nor do route marks.
Also selecting Settings causes toolbar to disappear, closing settings causes it to reappear. Only tool that has this property.

Settings window is supposed to do this.
The waypoint properties behavior is wrong somehow.
I only get it if I touch the toolbar with the waypoint window open.
I'll look into it.

Create a mark with right click>drop mark here
Double click for the properties box
ENter the Name field, move the mark
the name disappears
This was on XPSP3, using Opengl, and cm93 charts.

Create a mark (1) with right click>drop mark here
Create a mark (2) with right click>drop mark here
Double click mark 2 and move it.
Double click mark 1 and move it
Right click mark 2 and undo move
Mark 1 moves to its original position
