Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

hello,

A strange question ...

If I copy a mark or waypoint by "Copy as KML ..." and then If I paste this mark or waypoint, OCPN ask me if I want to merge the pasted data with the first mark or waypoint.

In each case, the new mark or WP is placed at the same place that the old mark or WP. So pasted the two mark or WP is without interest ...

So, why this question ?

Eventually this mark or WP can be placed in the same location as the first mark or WP. But it is not useful to ask whether they should be merged.

I would prefer the new mark or new WP is placed at place indicate by the mouse. In this case, perhaps you can ask if it should be placed at the same location as the first WP or mark or place indicated by the mouse.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

Hello Dave,

If I have a connection "In" but no connection "Out".

Then if I place a mark and right click on this mark. Then, it is possible to click on "Send to GPS".

And then, a message appear "Waypoint upload successfully". How this is it possible ?

Maybe a note about filtering of the autopilot signals could be informative. If I'm right the produced signals when a route is active are the ECRMB and ECRMC sentences. This "EC..." is probably not known by all and could be worth mentioned as the GPRMB/C are also sometimes present but with less data and could perhaps delude the autopilot?

Good points. Now included in the wiki.
Just keep punishing this beta

I tried a similar thing with no active connections, just a VDR file running. I had an error message, telling me to look in the log. Where I found:
Code:
19:45:38 CET: Garmin GPS could not be initialized on port: Serial:/dev/ttyS0 Error Code is -56
 LastGarminError is:
I had a line with /dev/ttyS0 for output, but it was not active.
None ov the Garmin boxes were ticked either.

Hello Dave,

Perhaps, an other user as see this. If yes, apologize in advance.

Now, in this context menu, (see screen copy), the command "Place the boat here" is not present.

is it normal ?

See screen copy what I have in connection window in my case. As said previously, no "out" connection. And my GPS, ND100 is not able to receive data.

I try another after unticked the connection network UDP and TCP. The problem is same.

Do you have a gps running? Or some other gps input?
I find "Move boat here" as long as no gps is present.
Makes sense to me!

I was just thinking on my part that the GPS was active and a connection was active input. I was about to correct my mistake by apologizing for the post.

And I see your post ...

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

Hi,
Thanks for the beta. I've loaded .1224 onto Ubuntu 12.10. I have Prolific GT730F. I used gpsd, tested for port Nobody,Somebody etc. and all OK. On openCPN used Net 2497, and get a data stream on NEAMA debug window. Button on top right of window shows "red" indicating no GPS data. Autofollow is also red but position way off. Back checking with xgps no satellites, or lat long data.
Any suggestions?

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

Hello Dave,

Until version 3.02 and even to replace the Toolbox by Options, there was an item in the tab "Etc." on permanent layers

Now, there is no item in the toolbox. Novice users with OpenCPN likely never use permanent layers.

Re: OpenCPN Beta Version 3.1.1224 Released

Hello,

Did you notice this ?

I am trying to change the color font of the text under the tide table (see the attached file).

After validation, the font color stay black,
no change after a restart of OpenCpn,
no improvment after changing from the Icons-menu style from 'traditional' to 'journeyman'.

This normal . Only certain parameters can really change even if apparently we can all change.

Thanks Gilletarom,

On the Wiki User-book you will be able to read elements about the font style & the size but nothing is written about this unability to change the color.

Gilletarom,

I should have read more carefully the Shoreline tutorial where you wrote some lines on this subject.

For the Ship Size somethink like this LINK would be great. There is also a little Port Problem, can you build a sub so that the`re alinged with the sheet pile wall?
