after removal of the config file, data selection of works
Regarding the pressure data selection marks. it is logical that when removing jackdaw in a check box on the map should be no pressure data including isobars.

If you have look at the settings for the pressure data type:
You can choose the behavior you expect :
If you select "always visible", isobar will be displayed whatever the pressure checkbox is.
You'll find the same choice for wind barbed arrows

But I cannot reproduce it locally. The playback seems to be just about as fast on my W7-virtual as it is on your faster video. And CPU load seems normal.
Anyone else tried this?
Thanks

Hi,
likely my change 6c55703cf61829ee454d29676045950cfa78fd4a.
I can reproduce it, sort of, if I'm using a 'Updates per Seconds' setting way too high for my system.
Or it could be some kind of resource starvation, texture not square, not a power of two size.
I push a request using smaller texture if possible, but with big enough gribs it's still an issue.
Nothing like perf top easily available on Window? IIRC Intel an AMD have some but it may install too much stuff.

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1706 Release
trivial but if:
- select in quilt mode a polyconic chart (a big one like great lakes 14500_1)
- switch single chart (key Q)
- zoom in/zoom out
- switch quilt mode, it doesn't switch back to mercator (a couple of Q key fix it).

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1706 Release
In the weather table I get in the top day/date line for the second day the same day/date as the first one.

I tested wit my low powered W10 and had the same result.
Off course if I choose a very slow playback, the problem is hiden
The playback was just an example I took to illustrate the problem,
but it exists too when walking manually through time steps and generally each time an overlay is due to be displayed, with a feeling of slowness we had forgotten with 4.2.0
I'll test your request as soon as possible

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1706 Release
I am testing the new version 4.2.1706 release, and have found that the tidal information as can be seen in the attached screen shot is showing depth in feet and not meters as the rest of OpenCPN does.
At the same time there is something wrong with the time. We are in Panama witch is UTC-5 and the tide moduls shows UTC-4, but that is also not correct as shown in the screen shot. The UTC time in the dashboard is correct.
Best regards,
Lars

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1706 Release
Hi all
Windows and GL mode
Barbed arrows are very "fat" and sometime difficult to estimate what wind speed they represent ( see screen shots attached 4.2.1706 compared to 4.2.0)
I tried different graphic interface scale factors but that changed nothing

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1706 Release
Ptizef...
I'm pretty sure the trouble with GRIB playback speed and display is related to overlay size. The recent commit from Didier seems to fix that, so I accepted that into github now. It makes sense.
As did-g remarks, the GRIB overlays can become slower with very large grib files. But that is not really the target use for OpenCPN GRIB PlugIn, so probably acceptable.
Let us know how it works on your systems, please.
Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1706 Release
Taarnskov....
Thanks for the feedback on Tide display in Panama.
Your issues:
1. Ft/metres. This is normal OpenCPN behaviour, and depends on the data values encoded in the harmonics file we use to calculate tides. We could dynamically convert to the selected OpenCPN depth unit, theoretically. Perhaps this should be added as a Feature Request for a future version of OpenCPN.
2. Time offset. Apparently, Panama does not implement Daylight Savings Time. The current OpenCPN code assumes that a time in the summer should always be DST corrected. Again, this could be improved by Feature Request for a future version.
Thanks again for the feedback
Dave

Ha, even for you O does have hidden secrets
Load a gribfile, and rightclick somewhere on the screen (within the grib). Choose "Weather Table"

Re: OpenCPN Beta test 4.2.1706 Release
Hi Dave,
Thanks for your respond to the tide issues.
The problem with the time in the harmonics is that it is not only of by one hour but 4 hours. What is the reason.
Best regards,
Lars
