Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

The "Show visible sectors" means "visible" by the ship. Sectors with a range covering the ship's actual cruising position will lit when the option and "Lights" are selected. When the ship moves outside the light's range it will go out again.

The "mouse over" function is not dependent of the "Show visible sectors" status.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

I observe a malfunction of the toolbar of the "Draw" plugin.

Sometimes I have two toolbars.

And even if I set, in the settings of Draw, the display of the toolbar to "Never", it remains displayed and I cannot close it.

Then, in theory, hovering over the light should be included in this option

When the ship is in range to see the sector light, the light is visible even if the box is uncheck. That seems incorrect.
Have a good day.

Ok, I bow. At home, we say "I'm eating my hat". I had remained on an old functioning.

That said: The item in the OpenCPN language file is: "Show visible sector lights".
This item misled me. It is not the OpenCPN user with his mouse but the presence of the boat in a visible sector causes the display of the visible sectors.

The item could be worded differently. For example: "Boat makes sectors visible". It's not precise enough, but there's not much space to display longer text, especially on the small screens of the Android version.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

Gilletarom...
In English, "Show visible sector lights" is fully descriptive. Not to be too pedantic, "visible" means (to me, at least) "if you look, you can see it". Has nothing to do with mouse on the screen.

Thanks
Dave

The function "Show visible sector..." is about showing leading sectors from a light house when the boat is moving within the range of that sector(s).
The range of the sectors can be seen if you view a object query for the light.
It's the same sectors as shown when you move the mouse pointer over the light.
If the boat is outside the range of the sector and the mouse pointer is not in vicinity of the light only the light would be seen. Not the leading sector(s).
See my shot what I call a leading sector

Here we begin the Beta Test of OpenCPN 5.6.1. This Beta test series will result in the Production release of OpenCPN 5.6.2, in a few weeks.
This Release is meant to be a quick bugfix operation, with minimal UI changes. Very few Feature Requests were considered. So I expect this test series to be smooth and simple.

Here are the MacOS and Windows installers.

MacOS:
https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/davi....1427f287c.pkg

Windows:
https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/davi...7f28_setup.exe

Linux: The linux packages are available as usual in the OpenCPN Beta repository:
https://launchpad.net/~bdbcat/+archive/ubuntu/opencpn

Flatpak:
Beta build available now. Version identifier is: "5.6.1-1+1427f28"
To install:
$ flatpak install --user https://flathub.org/beta-repo/appstr...CPN.flatpakref
To run:
$ flatpak run org.opencpn.OpenCPN//beta

Android:
Coming soon.

Source code:
For local builders, the source code is in github, on branch "v5.2.x" HEAD.

Changelog:
1. Address/correct most of the issues reported in Flyspray:
https://opencpn.org/flyspray/index.p...index&switch=1

2. Some minor cosmetic issues corrected.

Notes:

1. Flyspray posters: Please visit Flyspray, verify your issues have been resolved, and request Task closure if possible. The goal is to drive that Task list to zero.

2 I have two issues reported in O560 Release posting which have not been confirmed nor discussed. If you are the OP responsible for either of these issues, please test and comment.

a. MBtiles/Win11 crash

b. ENC S-57 chart update not working correctly!

Good Luck
Dave

- The dreaded Screen Recording bug randomly reoccurs

MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018)
2.6 GHz 6-Core Intel Core i7

Kevin...

- With Grib enabled and file selected, every 9th column of wind barbs is missing at certain zoom levels.
I would bet that this also happens with O5.6.0, at the same zoom, with the same file. Almost certainly not new with O561. File a Flyspray bug, if you have the time.

- The iso chrons no longer display when computing a weather route
You might like to file a bug report with WeatherRouting Plugin.

- The dreaded Screen Recording bug randomly reoccurs.
As we have discussed, OCPN has no control over what MacOS considers a security risk. Just be sure that you have enabled "Screen Recording" for OpenCPN in Mac Preferences. That's all we can do.

Thanks for the report
Dave

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

Confirm missing wind barbs with OpenCPN_5.6.1+1641.6ab733c73 also. Also suspect that OpenCPN_5.6.0 behaves likewise.

I have logged with Flyspray for both issues.

Jon, re O-draw

O-draw Toolbar is miniature for 4k screens, also the pencil cursor disappears and cant be found. The normal Arrow cursor should be used for these types of screens.
Thanks.

Dave have you seen Kevinh post here?

about weather routing working with some versions and not with others. This problem is beyond me.

Re: OpenCPN Beta 5.6.1-1 Released

Hello all testers...
Friendly reminder:
If you have posted a bug with OCPN 5.6.0 on Flyspray, please check that the bug is corrected by O561, and request a task closure on Flyspray if possible.
Flyspray is suspiciously quiet since this Beta was released....

Thanks
Dave
