OpenCPN and new Mac OS

Before I spend an hour chasing my tail I wanted to see if anyone else has had the following issue--recently upgraded my Mac OS and not the charts are not displaying. I get a pretty blue screen, my various routes- but no charts. I use chart groups, and have asked it to display all. The chart "buttons" appear on the bottom, but no charts.

Re: OpenCPN and new Mac OS

I have OpenCPN 5.01 running on a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.15.1 (Catalina). Works fine. I find it's hard to control the zoom level (chart quilting enabled). But that's always been an issue. I use raster charts.

Thanks. This is exactly what I have.

Did you get a request about sharing the screen? I said no— that may be the issue.

Now to find that setting

There is no setting in OpenCPN for sharing the screen. Might be you have something running like VNC or the such. Look in your MacOS settings.

Re: OpenCPN and new Mac OS

With update to Catalina there is an issue of directory access permissions if the charts are not in the standard OCPN data directory.

In Options|Charts|Directories delete the directory and add it again. Apply.

LOL, I deleted and re-added the chart directory and that fixed it. Then I saw your post.

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN and new Mac OS

So O5.0 works on Catalina? Any issues with installing new software/plugins?

Just got a chance to play with the program. The plug-ins work. Only issue was re-adding the directories.

Catalina only uses 64bit software. That means any old 32bit driver for GPS devices or others does not work anymore. Actually there are even no 64bit printer drivers available for some printers. So be careful when switching to Catalina!

Re: OpenCPN and new Mac OS

Just upgraded my Old MacBook Pro to Catalina. OCPN was a little weird at first, but after a database rebuild, it seems fine.
