Opencpn alert buzzer

Hello,
My RPI2 does no sound because I don't have any amplifier.
Is it possible that OCPN AIS alarm activates a buzzer ?
Thanks for answer
François

Re: Opencpn alert buzzer

Is your buzzer wired to the pwm output of the raspberry?

Are you able to get a beep with the gpio command?

I use a cheap USB speaker with integrated amplifier on my Pi.

@Alpenskipper: I'd like not to have an amplifier as far as possible
@boat_alexandra: I don't know how Ocpn alarm can turn on GPIO output. This is just what I want to do

Might be a handy feature but certainly a lot easier to just get a cheap usb powered speaker.
Does Opencpn write a log entry when an AIS alarm goes off? Shouldn't be too involved to write a little node-red flow to watch for changes in the log file then switch a gpio pin high if a change matches what an alarm entry looks like(if it does get written in the log file).

Very interesting, but I don't know node-red. I'm going to have a look

The watchdog plugin can do it for many types of alarms, but so far this does not include ais.

Re: Opencpn alert buzzer

No problem with watchdog plugin, but with AIS alert....
I don't know how to open GPIO with opencpn.log.
Which node should I use in node-red?
