OpenCPN 5 and OeSenc plugin 4

I have installed the latest version and updated everything using the updater included in the package. When I activate the OeSenc plugin and try to enter my details in OpenCPN the application crashes. Starting OpenCPN results in starting again show the screen and crash again. Until I remove the plugin or deactivate the plugin the application starts again.

I would say this could be something with access rights to certain folders or something like that? I have read about a manual installation of oesenc plugin but would like to fix this in this new setup w/ updater.

Any tips are welcome!

Re: OpenCPN 5 and OeSenc plugin 4

Which Operating system are you using?
Exact version or OCPN? Beta or stable?

Which version of oeSENC gets installed?

Do you get any crash report?
What does the log file say?

Pi is in the board and I am at home so will bring the Pi home for some testing.

See above.

Nothing on the screen but where do these get stored if they get stored?

Log file in the OS or something from OCPN? Please tell me where because I haven't done any log file digging so far. I am pretty good at manuals.

how did you install OpenCPN and plugins? Is this openPlotter? Is that self compiled? Is it from official repos?

Re: OpenCPN 5 and OeSenc plugin 4

Sorry for the delay in my response. I have downloaded the NOOBS headless install unzipped it on the SD card and switched on my Pi. After half an hour or something like that I was up and running. Installed plugin via OpenCPN installer to the below version oeSenc Plugin 4.0.10-0~bionic1. I believe everything is running on OpenCPN 5.0.0-0~bionic1. The openCPN installer tells me 2.1.0.

Where do I need to check for the logging?

Re: OpenCPN 5 and OeSenc plugin 4

I really have no clue what happened but i am able to load the latest map fron oesenc with the USB key dongle.

During the winter season my gps receiver on the boat is outdated and can't get a fix anymore. Garmin GPS128 and updating this one doesn't look promising so didn't try yet.

So bought a USB GPS Receiver Dongle but this one is not working yet. I have tried using this link https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do..._setup#mac_osx or a combination from there. So resulting in this see attached.

Can we see your serial settings for the port? The baud rate for example.
What do you want to say with the comment "gpsd"?

Re: OpenCPN 5 and OeSenc plugin 4

Thanks for your reply. See attached my serial settings for GPS. It could be that I missed something because like I said combining information for a way-to-go isn't always the best way.

User comment gpsd is only for my reference so I can recognize that this is GPS. In case this is not good do tell me a better way. :-)

In your first screen shot the ublox device is shown.
In the second not. Did y unplug and replug the GPS?

What shows the list of devices if you make it drop down?

No just scrolled down. After I select the dataport it get shortened automatically to /dev/ttyACM0. See attached new screenshot. In the meanwhile I tried unplugging and plugging it in again. Also did reboot of the full Pi.

Re: OpenCPN 5 and OeSenc plugin 4

The uBlox shall default to 4800 Bd.
Did you try 9600, 19200 or 38400 just in case?

What does the OCPN log file say? You access to it via the "About" or "Help" button from the tool bar - the "?".

You are running OpenPlotter, aren´t you? Does it use the port perhaps (kplex)? Then you can't access to it directly at the same time.

Not that I know of using Kplex.
I also tried via Serial 2.1.0 adding a device and creating a connection by using Add to GPSD. See the screenshot but this doesn't work either.

Re: OpenCPN 5 and OeSenc plugin 4

I have installed OpenCPN to my Mac and plugged in the Beitian GPS receiver to this Mac. For some reason I am doubting if the GPS receiver is working. What can I do to validate this?

Uhm I didn't expect that my house was blocking the GPS signal that bad. Crap! Everything more or less more outside and it works.

Thanks everybody for all the help.
