Re: OpenCpn 5.8.0 issues
Redog....
Thanks for the test and report. We are closing in on the trouble, I think.
Question: How do you start OpenCPN normally. From command line, or ???
Thanks
Dave

OpenCpn 5.8.0 issues - Waypoint default scale change not 'sticking'
Windows 11, OpenCPN v5.8.0.0+0b3b417
When I create a waypoint after installing v5.8.0, the default has been changed to Show at scale > 1. I tried using the 'Save some defaults' option to set the scale to 50000, but that doesn't seem to 'stick' - closing down opencpn, reopening it and starting a new waypoint again comes up as >1.
To resolve the issue I went directly into the opencpn.ini file and changed the value.

Can't reproduce. Are you sure you ticked the checkbox on the left side of the "defaults" dialog?

Re: OpenCpn 5.8.0 issues
After this you click OK, close OpenCPN and still your INI file contains WaypointScaMinValue=1 instead of the expected WaypointScaMinValue=50000?

In this instance I used the icon from my favourites on sidebar. Land based no gps.
However with the 2 boat computers I have auto start enabled so that O starts at computer boot. Works nicely.
Cheers redog

Yes, here's what the file looks like after I change the value in a waypoint property, and then try to save it as a default as show in my previous screenshot. ***NOTE, was doing a key word search for waypoint, that's why the true/false//yes/no waypoint value is highlighted and not the scale one (which of course is the one I manually edited to get the config file to be the way I wanted for the default value of 50000)

Re: OpenCpn 5.8.0 issues
Still impossible to reproduce on any platform for me. Anybody else seeing this behavior? Anything special that could play some role and I forgot to ask?

Re: Dropdown UserIcons in OpenCpn 5.8.0 issues
There appears to be no UserIcons directory deployed, I've made several custom icons over the years and live through the drudgery of a simple table dropdown when chartting still in 5.8 waypoint properties. Needed as indicated in Lights and Shapes regulations from 38 different countries. How is this now customized? Will there be an update to the online manual?

Re: OpenCpn 5.8.0 issues
Redog...
One more test, if you have the time, please.
Using the OpenCPN Beta PPA (ppa:bdbcat/opencpn)
1. $ sudo upt apdate
2. $ sudo apt install opencpn
3. As in the previous test, copy the incompatible version of libo-draw_pi.so to ~/.local/lib/opencpn. Or any other plugin that you think suspicious.
4. For clarity, delete ~/.opencpn/opencpn.log
5. Start OCPN. When it settles down, stop OCPN.
6. Post logfile here.
Thanks
Dave

Notation in red above??
O started normally with introduction window, then warning about radar plugin and it would be deleted. Window about no GPS connection.
Log attached no crash.

Re: OpenCpn 5.8.0 issues
Redog...
Thanks for the test. Upgrade from PPA was as expected. In fact, all is just as expected in the log, so I think we have resolved the occasional incompatible plugin detection problem on linux.
We will be releasing this, and other regression bug fixes, as a maintenance release shortly.
You may like to shift back to the OCPN production PPA. But meanwhile, the version you just installed is safe for navigation.
We appreciate your help and patience.
Dave
