The OpenCPN Development Team is proud to announce the release of OpenCPN Version 5.6.2.
OpenCPN Version 5.6.2 is available for immediate download.

This version is a maintenance release of OpenCPN.

OpenCPN is a cross platform electronic navigation system (ECS) supporting a variety of cartography standards and hardware interface protocols. Versions are available for linux, Windows, Raspberry Pi, and MacOS computer architectures.

Some features of OpenCPN include:

- Broad International Language support.
- PlugIn architecture allowing on-going third-party functional enhancements.

OpenCPN is released under the GPLV2 license. The executable program and its source code are available for immediate, free, and unlimited download from github.com.

As a successor to OpenCPN Version 5.6.0, OpenCPN Version 5.6.2 contains new features and enhanced functions.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

Good morning!
We just moved back into range of cell service and I updated the Pi (4b armhf) from 5.6.0 to 5.6.2 and now it is basically unusable and pinned at 100%cpu. I look at the target releases in the repo, and 5.6.0 isn't listed so I can't downgrade using Apt. I can manually downgrade assuming I can find the package, but I thought you should know.
If you have any questions or want any particulars, let me know.

Fixed a lot of user interface issues on macOS Catalina! Thanks!!!

Specifically, happy to be able to see nav data in the route dialog again and I am able to use "sounds" in the user interface. Simple things, but they mean a lot. Appreciate your hard work!

Problems with particles in the GRIB plugin were left unattended!
With GRIB enabled, switching to two canvases crashes the CPN.
In dual canvas mode, on the left side of the canvas, particles in a frozen state

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

Updated my dedicated boat system using 20.04.3 LTS (Focal Fossa) from 5.6.0 to 5.6.2 using PPA. Plugins used are Dashboard, GPS Odometer and o-charts. NMEA2K GNSS thru an external Signal K server. Also updated o-charts plugin and oeSENC charts.

The only (minor) issue I've found so far is that my customized 'chartsymbols.xml' and 'rastersymbols.*' are back to default. Glad I had a backup copy, working to update.
Otherwise it all seems OK on the OpenCPN side.

Comment on Signal K: It is still having the old canboatjs problem where I'm doing >1200 knots (655.34 m/s) heading 15 degrees until enough satellites are found (OpenCPN issue #2429, SK issue #226).

You go here for the "official" version of OpenCPN for Android.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....opencpn&hl=en

Version 5.6.x for Android is expected to be released quite soon.

On a Chrome book the deb package might work as well.

Sorry, actually I didn't ask the right question (I know of the existence of the Open CPN version for Android) In fact, I'm looking for drivers for a GPS/Usb Globalsat BU 353 antenna that would be compatible with Chrome Os and/or Android Thank you Best regards

BU 353 does not need any drivers to work with the Linux kernel, which is what runs in the heart of Chrome OS. Your probem, if any, is probably not missing drivers.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

Hello Dave,

I am being massacred for an apparent translation error in the French language file of the OpenCPN core.

See screenshot. We can see a route and the small yellow window that indicates the characteristics of the route and the pointed segment.

The length of the route is "12.1 Nds".

But, "Nds" is the French translation of the English item "Kts". Unless I'm mistaken, "Kts" is the abbreviation of "Knots".

In other words, the word "Noeuds" in French and then an abbreviation of "Noeuds" is indeed "Nds".

So, in terms of translations, in the crowdin, everything seems correct to me.

But "Knots" is a speed, not a length.

I guess there is a programming error that assigned the English "Kts" item to this location of the small yellow window instead of assigning the English "NMi" item there

I indicate that the same problem appears elsewhere. See the second screenshot.

There is also an error on the scale label on the lower left corner of the chart.
I made a change and comments in crowdin.
