Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

Pixel29...
Much more info needed, please. Start with:

1. What hardware/rPi version?
2. What OS?
3. How installed OCPN?

Thanks
Dave

Thanks for your kind help !!

I fear it's a binary incompatibility between deb and buntu packages .. I really don't want to end up compiling everything ...
Today the error message is slightly different:

(opencpn:4694): Gtk-CRITICAL **: 09:40:30.554: gtk_box_gadget_distribute: assertion 'size >= 0' failed in GtkScrollbar

Segfault ..

You would better try the flatpak version:

I will definately never do this.
Rather be compiling from sources.

Sure, and you will compile all the plugins too.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

The handling of layer-texts is broken (again) in 5.6.2 (on Windows at least).

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

AIS with un-acknowleged sound alarms will make opencpn unusable

Log in FS 2895

When an AIS CPA alert is sounding, O will open a new soundfie every second. When 1024 files are opened, O will become crippled.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

I am trying to use OpenCPN 5.6.2 Flatpak on my Rapberry4, but everytime it goes up to 100 percent CPU (as can be seen with TOP command), and I can only stop it with a kill command.

I see other Raspberry users complaining as well about the 100 Percent CPU problem. in this thread

I never had this problem with the previous versions of OpnCPN, what could be causing this ?
I use the Osenc, Banner and Instrument panel plugins.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

Baralt...

Step 1: Disable all plugins. Might have to edit config file to do this.
Step2: Verify normal startup of OpenCPN, and run OK.
Step3: Add back plugins, one-by-one until trouble is found.

Please report results here.
Thanks
Dave

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released

Hi, I have tried all possible combinations of Plugins, but could not identify where it went wrong.
I found the solution in another topic : SignalK connection causes freeze.
I changed input to TCP-Localhost- port 10110 and now everything is working fine. With Signal K port 3000 the Raspberry freezes with 100% CPU Load.

Baralt..
It may be the problem discussed here?
If so the issue is solved for next OCPN release.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 Released - AIS Alarm; Chart Quilting; Linux Mint

Hi All

I just moved from 5.6.0 to 5.6.2 before starting a long passage. I'm running Linux Mint.

The other night I discovered that the alarm bell does not ring on AIS CPA alert.

I dug further and the option to select the sound and test it has disappeared on my rig.

I had short shrift from the first mate about it as she was on watch...

It is working fine on my Android tablet, still at 5.6.0

Also, chart quilting option appears to have disappeared...This is not such a biggie for me. She doesn't know about the feature.

Thanks for all you hard work people!

Phil
