OpenCPN 5.6.2 not recognized on Macs

Trying to open newest OpenCPN results in this message: “OpenCPN_5.6.2.pkg” cannot be opened because it is from an unidentified developer.

I'm on Mac OS Big Sur, 11.6.4, which should be compatible according to the download page. Prior version 5.6.0 opens fine.

I'm about to teach a Power Squadrons chartplotter course and need the students to have access. Please see if you can resolve this with Apple.

There is nothing we have to resolve with Apple for you to be able to use OpenCPN on macOS, simply control click the package and select Open from the context menu that gets displayed.
Same as with any other software whose authors do not pay Apple the USD 100 a year ransom for the signing certificate.
