OpenCPN 5.6.2 crashes when you select plugins on Ubuntu

Hi,
I just upgraded to 5.6.2 and went to check my plugins.
The app exits upon clicking the plugin icon.
Any ideas on why this is happening?

Thanks,
Sam Moore

With a new OpenCPn version not all the plugins are working. It take some time to make the plugins compatibel with a new version.

However if you use the OpenCPN flatpak version most of the plugins work.
Installing goes as follows:

first install the flatpak enviroment:

sudo apt install flatpak

then go the site flatpakhub site and search for opencpn.

install

then in the Download folder:

sudo flatpak install (name of the file)

Start opencpn

And update plugins

After a reboot you get the icon for the flatpak OpenCPN.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 crashes when you select plugins on Ubuntu

Hi Bram,
I removed my existing OpenCPN and installed the Flatpak version with some success.
Here the howevers:
The radar extension installs but the icon does not show up on the menu selection bar.
When I check the plugins it shows it's installed and enabled.

Additionally, I have not figured how to add "Other locations" as I would in the normal OS.
That feature doesn't seem to work. I keep all my charts on a separate drive. I need to get to that to install my cruising charts. Do you have any idea on how to extend the "other locations" in the chart selector?

Thanks!

The Radar plugin does not work with the latest version. Look at the item about this. Will be corrected. But the advice is to use at the moment an other version. Look at the info here on this site.

The standard folder seems to be Charts. But you can simply choose the drive where your charts are available.

Re: OpenCPN 5.6.2 crashes when you select plugins on Ubuntu

Hi Bram,
I'm going to include a screenshot as a link.
Notice in the foreground/file mgr you can see /media as an option.
Also you can see NavComp as the extra drive I have mounted.
Neither are available in 5.6.2 where my charts are located.

I have rebooted and I still can't get to the drive in 5.6.2
Also, you suggested I downgrade. I looked in opencpn.org and only found the current version and the archived versions that are < 5.0.
I couldn't find how to get to say a 5.6.0 to downgrade my system.
Thanks!
