OpenCPN 5.12.4 installiert - Probleme

Hallo zusammen, ich habe heute die neuste Version von OpenCpn installiert und mittlerweile 2 mal deinstalliert und neu aufgespielt, da die Version unter Windows 10 direkt nach dem Öffnen abstürzt. Ich bin reiner Anwender und benötige eine klare Hilfestellung was ich jetzt tun soll. Ich fürchte darüber hinaus, dass meine kompletten Routen und Tracks verloren sind. Was kann ich tun???

Hi everyone, I installed the latest version of OpenCPN today and have since uninstalled and reinstalled it twice because the version crashes immediately after opening it on Windows 10. I'm just a user and need clear guidance on what to do now. I'm also afraid that all my routes and tracks are lost. What can I do?
My drivers are up to date.

Rename the OpenCPN ini file so that you can start with a clean system.
The ini file is located at C:\ProgramData\opencpn (if C: is the main volume of Windows).

If that does run ok, then start to recover your settings.
Close OpenCPN before doing any editing of the configurations.

try :
- uninstall OpenCPN
- rename C:\ProgramData\opencpn to C:\ProgramData\opencpn.old (or anything else)
- clean or rename C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN ,in case of remaining files
- install OpenCPN

Asking for the log file in order to check if there are issues with OpenGL.
A new install would not help in that case.

It looks like the problem occurs when looking into the Windows Registry for where your chart directory is located. I never knew that OpenCPN DID registry stuff.
Possible it might be that this is something new in this version, and they haven't accounted for possible language issues.
A quick fix, or at least additional information, MIGHT be to either edit or delete the entry in the registry (or at the very least, look at it and report back here what it says).

Does the system crash and this is the last entry in the log?
Might point then to an issue with OpenGL on your system with 5.12.


To test try running without OpenGL. As you will not access to the Options menu - the system does crash before, right? - on way would be to edit the config or .ini file (case Windows, your one).
Search the ini file for the OpenGL entry and modify ON to OFF. Save and start OpenCPN.
