Opencpn 4.8.0 crashes after zooming

Hi Dave,

I imported the evil waypoint and moved in overzoom scale to the waypoint then I was able to zoom in and out without any issue. I stopped Ocpn and started it again in the position of the waypoint and Ocpn crashed right away a second after getting bright.
I am not sure whether this was a good idea because I am not able to get to the waypoints dialog to delete the evil waypoint again. Do you have an idea how I can get rid of it - currently Ocpn is not usable for me anymore.

Hi Dave

Ok fixed it. I got the time after starting to move the chart a bit and Ocpn was stable. So I got the chance to delete the evil waypoint and everything is good again. May I help you with anything else?

Will you post a copy of the evil icon?
It must be in UserIcons folder, somewhere....

Hi Dave,

tried to find the evil icon several times now. I found the folder with all the other icons except the evil one and some others which are showed in the waypoint icon select list. I attach a picture with the icons I can't find on the computer so far. Sorry for this answer, maybe you know another trick how to find them.

Did you look into a path like this?
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 4.8.0\uidata\markicons
C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 4.8.0\uidata
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\uidata
C:\ProgramData\opencpn\UserIcons

The last is where I think they are.

Did you do a search on your harddrive for *.svg , *.png or *.ico?

Hello rgleason,

I doublechecked it again. Made several full scans and looked especially, in addition, in the folders which could have something to do with Ocpn, without success. The mystical is that I still can select these icons but don't find them on the harddisk. I also checked the icons of S57 charts but theses are also different. So I have no more idea where and how I could find the evil icon - but I will not use it anymore. Will see when I upgrade in some time to a new Lubuntu with the then current Ocpn whether these are still there or not.

Then it doesn't exist and it could be the problem or it's whatever icon Ocpn uses in this case (the first from the list).


Can you find in ocpn list the same icon , the yellow ring? It has a different name but it's there.

yes I find the so called "Symbol-Circle-Yellow.svg" in the opencpn folder. It is in /usr/share/opencpn/uidata/markicons .

It looks like but doesn't seem to be this one, no yellow ring in
/home/sabineundrobert/.opencpn/UserIcons
?

- Can you put your icon in /home/sabineundrobert/.opencpn/UserIcons somewhere?

- Did you build opencpn yourself? If yes can you recompile with debug info (-g) ddd backtrace will be a lot more useful.

1. No, there is no folder UserIcons in .opencpn
