OpenCPN 3.0.2 Keeps on Crashing

Hello,

Since the start of trip I'm using Opencpn 3.0.2 for planning my routes etc. without any problems.

Since s couple of days it keeps on crashing after a while. There is no givin time interval or so. I notice it crashes because there is no output to the display (autopilot port) any more and the vessel on the screen stops moving.

All routes are still inside the route manager and the navobj.xml file is a little over 10Mb. Enclosed the logfile.

Hope someone can help me out.

Thanks in advance.

George64...

I looked at your log. Nothing obvious, except that you have every available PlugIn installed, or so it seems.

First thing I would do is remove some or all of the PlugIns. Try to run without PlugIns for a while, and see how that goes. Then add the PlugIns back one-by-one to try to isolate the problem.

Re: Opencpn 3.0.2 keeps on crashing

Dave,

Thanks for you quick reply.

I installed most of the plugins, just to play with. I will remove some of the plugins for a test. I must say that I didn't install any plugins during the past three months, and the crashing just started a couple of days ago. No change that the size of navobj.xml could be of an cause?

George....

It could be. Can you remove (temporarily) some of the route/tracks/waypoints that you are not using? Export them, save away somewhere safe, and try with a smaller navobj.

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 Keeps on Crashing

Dave,

I already exported and deleted all trakcs yesterday. No luck. I uninstalled most of the plugins today and will also export and delete all routes. It's a double change, but I can take it from there. Hopefully will go sailing tomorrow and use Opencpn. I'll update this post afterwards.

I have seen the same behaviour, but for me the screen is freezing for 30-60 sek and then OCPN runs normally again.
I have some plug-in and a lot of tracks, routes and Wp stored.
Will try removing it all as instructed.

Q: in my tracking I have set one point every 6 sek. Can this be the reason for OCPN locking?

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 Keeps on Crashing

Dave,

Removed all tracks and routes, uninstalled most of the plugins, navobj.xml is less than 600kb. Started the programm this morning with a route activated and recording the track. Just before of left the harbour it already crashed. Enclosed the logfile. If there is anything else you need, please let me know.

Thanks, George

In addition, it takes about 12sec. before the routemanager opens when clicked.

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 Keeps on Crashing

Dave,

Did you manage to have a look at the file? I'm thinking of saving the ini-file, remove 3.0.2 en re-install it to see if that would solve the issue for now.

Thanks, George

Just did a re-install with the re-use of the ini-files and chart-files. Still the same problem

George....

Ack.... The GoDaddy crash this week affected my mail server. Lost the mail with your navobj.xml.

Could you please resend?

Thanks

Re: OpenCPN 3.0.2 Keeps on Crashing

I've been trying to get OpenCPN to work on Mac OSX 10.7.4. Whenever I click on the Charts tab in the settings menu the program crashes. I've tried to remove the INI file, re-installed multiple times and even went back to 2.5, I believe. I must be doing something blatantly wrong?
