open CPN on MacBook OS 10.5.8

Dear skippers.

I try to install Open CPN, the "older version" as to their web site, on my old MacBook with OS 10.5.8,
Doesn't work, the safari application crashes.
Anybody has advise for me (I can't buy a new Mac...)
Thanks,

Skipper Phil

Which "older version" do you mean?
Why you talk about Safari, OpenCPN has nothing to do with Safari?

Re: open CPN on MacBook OS 10.5.8

Dear Gerhard,

Thanks for coming back to me so swiftly.
Open CPN 3.2.2., because this is what the Open CPN site advises for older MAC OS versions.
I mentioned Safari, because that is the browser I use.
I can download it, but when I try to open I get "the application OpenCPN quit unexpectedly".
Any idea?

Yours,
Skipper Phil

Re: open CPN on MacBook OS 10.5.8

Phil,

I have been told the version 3.2.2 of OpenCPN does not work.
However there was recently someone who have successfully installed version 3.3.1824 on a MacBook with Snow Leopard.
But you have only Leopard. Which MacBook do you have?
MacBook2,1 introduced in November 2006, model number A1181, can be updated to Snow Leopard (10.7.5), the MacBook1,1 before however not.

I suggest to try first OpenCPN version 3.3.1824. You can download here:
https://topperdiek.de/dl/OpenCPN_3.3.1824.dmg

If this version doesn't work either you will need to update your OS first to Snow Leopard. Give me a note then.

Gerhard
