open cpm will not run

I tried to use CPM 4.4 several time but I would get errors and it would not run on my xp with sp3.
I then went to CPM 4.0 and it was great! However, it did not have some of the features that I wanted and were available as add on's for 4.4.
I was glad to see CPM 4.6 was available but it "fails to initialize and will not run.
Open CPM has much better ais control than the Capn software that I have used for many years.
Help please!

Can you post here your opencpn.log file? It may contain the clues as to why it does not run.

First; thanks for taking the time to reply!
Since my posting I have come a long way. The link below zeros in on the problem.
The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000001d or 0xc0000142). Click on OK to terminate the application.
My nave computer is an ancient Dell c300 with sp3. I have used it for many years because it fits at my wheel station (motor sailor).

After many tests of open cpm on dell D300 and D630 I must come to the conclusion that the problem must lie, as suggested, with the older cpu.
I have even tried the suggested 4.4.1 suggested in post 8 in the above.
What I really need is a computer with a nearly square screen. Life is better when your boat goes up and down and not right left.
If you would still like the log file, let me know and I will reload 4.2 and or 4.4 and send it to you.
