oesnec chart's not installing

I did the following, following both the manuals and the video


1. Installed plugin oesnec_pi-3.3.4-ov50-win32.exe
2. Opened the oesnec charts page
3. Purchased oesnec CApc (Canada 2019-Pacific Coast)
4. Picked a system name and selected "Refresh Chart List"
5. Selected "Install Selected Chart List"
6. Received the ERROR message:
Error creating Fingerprint file
Check OpenCpn log file
[USB Key Dongle not found]
7. Everything came to a halt>


None of the instructions mentioned purchasing a dongle. Is it required? Did I install the wrong oesnec plugin? There's 2 of them. Where is the "log file" located and what's it's name?


Since I'm the only on with trouble in Windows, I assume/hope that the solution is simple.

The dongle is not required.

What is your Windows version?
In case you use any other AV product but Windows onboard Defender, disable it just to see what happens.

I need some help. Let me repeat what I've done.

I've turned off all av programs, both Windows and AVG. When the program halted, the program stalled. I'm running Windows 10 on a HP dv6-3150. The Windows 10 version is 1903, OS Build 18362.356.



I'm attaching a screen shot (I hope.


Help from anybody? Can anybody tell me where the log file is located?

You see the log file from the About/HelpButton from the tool bar - the "?"

In case you have problems to upload or attach the log there are two options: in case of upload rename the log file to .doc to overcome size restrictions or send the log as an attachment to o-charts.org. info@..

Apart from the main discussion a little tip if you like:
Some (HP?) graphical cards are not happy with the "My Charts List" window as of your screen shot. It's compressed. To solve this once and for ever change the breadth of the Options window to the right some millimeters by a mouse drag. Hit OK button.

Thank you, bcn. I examined the log file and discovered the mistake.


And thanks to Hakan. I made the window bigger and now it reads fine.

I found the log file, looked through the latest load and found the installation was looking for the oesnec plugin in a directory where it wasn't. Reinstalled the oesnec plugin to the proper direction and it worked.
