OpenCPN Plugin oeSENC_PI Version 2.0 Released


The OpenCPN Development Team and o-charts.org is proud to announce the release of OpenCPN Plugin oeSENC_PI Version 2.0.

The oeSENC_PI Plugin for OpenCPN provides access to the large and growing portfolio of ENC (vector) charts available at o-charts.org.
Users may license chart sets at o-charts.org, install the Plugin, and immediately download their new vector charts on one or more OpenCPN devices.
The oeSENC_PI Plugin is available for all supported OpenCPN platforms.

oeSENC_PI Plugin Version 2.0 brings a clean and efficient user interface to the classic OpenCPN Windows, Mac and linux platforms.
In addition to the existing offline chart installation method, oeSENC_PI Version 2.0. offers a single screen graphical interface to your o-charts.org portfolio of charts.
You may now review and install new or updated charts sets in a few simple steps, without leaving the OpenCPN application.

OpenCPN and all its Plugins are released under the GPLV2 license. The installation programs for Windows, Mac, and linux are available for immediate, free, and unlimited download from opencpn.org. Full source code is available from github.com, and several other public sources.

oeSENC_PI Version 2.0 Quick Start.

1. Visit o-charts.org. If you are a new visitor, create a personal account for licensing and managing your charts.
2. Select and license one or more oeSENC chartsets, using the o-charts web shop interface.

3. Download and install the oeSENC_PI version 2.0 from the location listed in the opencpn.org "Downloads" section.

4. Now move to OpenCPN.

5. Start OpenCPN. Enable the oeSENC_PI Plugin.
6. In OpenCPN, navigate to "Settings->Charts->oeSENC Charts" page.
7. Press the "Refresh Chart List" button. You will be prompted for your o-charts.org login credentials.
8. On successful network connection and login, the chart list will be populated with all the charts you have licensed at o-charts.org.
9. On this page, follow the successive prompts to select, assign, prepare, download, and install your new oeSENC charts.

The OpenCPN manual and the documentation at o-charts.org are updated to match oeSENC version 2.0

As already mentioned the offline procedure will work as before for systems that are not connected to Internet.
