Discovered an oeSENC plug-in for Android OCPN at the Play-Store making it possible to use the complete oSENC portfolio for Android devices.

Fingerprint procedure for Android the same as for Windows?

My HUAWEI smartphone did find the oeSENC plugin, but my Samsung tablet cannot find the plugin in the Playstore.
I tried: oeSENC, oesenc and oesencplugin.

Any suggestions?

The minimum required Android is 4.4.

If the plug-in can't be installed for other reasons on your device, you should get a message.

Under Android there is no (visible) fingerprint.

The procedure:
- latest Android OCPN
- install oeSENC plug-in
- if this works, license charts or if you have charts already then as next
- from Options|Charts|oeSENC follow the instructions

- You will get your licensed chart sets listed
- The plug-in will ask you if you want to asociate a chart set to this device
- Select and confirm to assign
- Next you can request a chart set, that will be prepared for the device.
- Once finished, the plug-in offers to download and install the chart set.

Chart sets licensed can be installed on a standard system as always and on a Android as back-up in parallel for example.
A mixed use of a chart set is possible. Androids and others.
Or on Android with one spare back-up on stand-by.

No iOS as there is no OpenCPN for iOS.

As I have two Android devices (one at home for testing/planning and one on the boat, both using the same gmail account), do I need two o-charts licences or only one ?

you can use just one license for the two devices - assigning the chart set to both.
The second one counts as the back-up.

The same as for Windows or Linux. The possible mix is up to you.
Mixing Android and macOS as an exotic example.
Or leaving one back-up spare for just-in-case...
Your decision from your individual user requirements.

Bad wording on my part. My question was if several Android systems count as one license "slot" (like the OpenCPN Android licence on the Play Store for example), or if each Android system needs its separate licence slot.

It looks like we're in the second case, right ? So if I want to use, let's say 5 Android devices, I need to buy OpenCPN only once, but the charts 3 times.

Stelian,

you are describing the situation correctly.

The Hydrographic Institutes as licensors for o-charts or oeSENC like SHOM or UKHO do limit the number of parallel installs to 1 + 1 back-up.

The situation for S-63 is somehow similar: you can use the S-63 UserPermit for OpenCPN on as many systems as you like, but the number of installed copies of licensed cells is limited.

I tried the link but it did not work on my Samsung tablet. But now I see that my android is 4.2. so it will not work anyway.

But there was no special pop up message. Playstore only say "Could not find".

Aart,

that's Play-Store: if your device is not compatible, it will just not "find" the app.
"Not for You", decides Google.

I installed the or send plugin from the play store, but it doesn't show up in the plugin list of openCPN.

Pressing install in the plugin doesn't seem to make an effect

Which version of OpenCPN for Android are you using?
It should be 1.0.18

The old beta 4.1.xxx does not know about plug-ins or oeSENC.
