Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Gilleatrom,
Thank you for the testing, it has helped me remove some difficult to find bugs and, hopefully, improve the plugin. Your explanations, with the pictures, and where you could the VDR files, made finding the bugs MUCH easier.

I work almost exclusively under Linux in English and whilst I do have a win7 VirtualBox machine for testing, it is SLOW and the graphics seem to be rather strange at times, i.e. z-order of windows whilst in Visual Studio. So your testing has help a lot.

You can already add your own icons to OD by putting them in the "UserIcons" directory which is located under plugins\ocpn_draw_pi alongside the data directory which contains the ODnavobj.xml files. If you suggest a few that you think may be appropriate I can add them to the base install so that they are available immediately to the user.

I think it would be quite easy to add a wind direction line, not sure whether it should be an EBL that allows this, or a new tool (based on the EBL). Could you raise a flyspray on this with your ideas so that they don't get lost in this thread?

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Gilletarom,
Watching your VDR file of the boat going into a marina it would appear that the GPS unit is a land based one normally used for cars. I say this because it seems to be reporting zero SOG and zero COG even though I can see the lat/lon is changing. I have a puck GPS that defaults to this mode (it does it all the time now as the internal battery is dead and the unit is sealed so I cannot change it). There is a windows program that lets me set it to show SOG and COG all the time even when moving slowly. It does mean the COG seems to jump about a bit as very slow speeds, but I can see that I am moving, i.e. 0.5 knot. I have also found the way to set this under linux (my preferred boat pc operating system) and it makes moving slowly a bit more intuitive, to me any way.

So, if it is your GPS it may be worth having a look on the internet to see how to set it so that it shows you moving, even when going slowly. You are, after all, not following roads, so there is no need for the 'sticky' feature to ensure the car is shown on a road.

I do not remember what I used GPS to me that day. But normally it's a Garmin 72H. Normally, it is for boat ...????

Since you get into that, I noticed that if I manually moves the chart so the EBL lines begin automatically properly. So I tend to think that a refresh after closing the VDR, therefore, when there is no NMEA sentence indicating that the boat is moving, would be welcome.

That said, I see just a little "trick." When I stop the VDR, the boat turns gray. It's normal. Itis up to north. Normal.
But EBL fixed angle remain in the last position where it was before the VDR stops.

About icons, it is ecessary to ask Dave to see if he agrees that some of the free to OpenCPN icons are used in OCPN Draw. And if he is Ok, then we will choice some of these icons.

Win10, VS2013, OD patch: 653. EBL: "Rotate with boat - COG"

When I create a new EBL by a mouse click where I want the end point the line is turned to a new angle that is EBL angle + COG course.
Method to reproduce:
Play my VDR "Hakefjord.txt" and create a new EBL at an angle, say 270°, and release mouse button. The EBL is turned to around 300° and then starts to rotate with boat. The "EBL angle" is still 270°.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
Is anyone using this PlugIn with MacOS? If not is it possible for someone to build a version and give it a go to see if it works. I have built versions for Android tablets and Raspberry PI's and both of these work well. I know that windows seems to be working now, but I would like to feel that the Mac works as well.

Thanks
Regards
Jon

About translations;
I see there are some new strings not yet included in Crowdin. Do you think it's time for an update or do you foresee more changes?
When ready I could manage Crowdin if you like.

Jon,
I have once tested draw_pi with Mac OS X El Capitan and wxWidgets 3.1.0. After some changes to avoid crashes and asserts I got it working last year and the *.dylib still works with OCPN 4.2. I guess it was your code from August and September last year. I abandoned the project at this time seeing your code changes each day. You can find my attemps to compile your code at this time at:
https://github.com/CarCode/Cocoa-OCP...lugins/draw_pi

If I have some sparetime I will update your code and try it again. However it will be of no use for others because I use my own environment.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon, I did a clean build deleting everything in build dir except cairo.lib, expat.lib, wxsvg.lib, opencpn.lib (current).
It built with no errors. There were some warnings, which may go away when built again. See attached.

I tried the new EBL feature again, while running TDan' python VDRplayer and the Hakefjord file from Hakan. It works! The only trouble I had was changing the port and starboard angles, colors and pixel weights because the menu seems to be affected by the data coming from the player. There is a frequent blink in the menu when data is received or written, which makes it difficult to select from the dropdown for the number of pixels for example. You must complete an action before the next blink, or you loose your place. This makes it difficult to set parameters. Can it be fixed?

It looks like there will be another version with additional translations.
I have uploaded your build of ocpn_draw 654 just adding ov4.2 to Beta File Thing.
Nice plugin!
