Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Haven't used the P&P Mgr, so only one object at a time.

Yes I can see the "multi-active-blinking":

- Open P&P, select a boundary --> highlighted/blinking
- Selecting a different one this one will blink
- Now changing the tab you can select one OCPN point and highlight it as well
- And if you don't close the P&P Mgr you can select even one more object.

So three highlighted.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hubert,
For me when I do a windows parallel install I just hit the right arrow key followed by the space bar when the install directory is shown and it gives me a list of instances I can install onto. I just pick the one I want and it installs into the correct place.

I have changed the Z-order for paths and points. For boundaries it will now draw the fill, then the lines then the points. For boundary points it will draw the fill then the icon then the name. This should make the icons and names show up better.

The order drawn is the order created for each drawing type, so the last object is over the top of the first object. The object types are drawn paths first then points.

Ricks problem is obviously occurring, but without being able to reproduce it I am not sure where to start looking. It must be an uninitialised variable (or one that is not correctly reset) that is causing the issue. It will be like the direction of building a boundary that had the effect of showing or not showing the fill correctly. I, or Rick, just need to narrow down what steps are needed to reproduce it.

- I can't reproduce Rick's "suddenly flashing border points". Panning, zooming, OpenGL On/Off. All type of animals on the canvas.

- Question/observation of Z-order or order of drawing of objects:
the hatched area will cover their markers and names. I would suggest to draw these at the end and not to cover them.

- More general: How is the order of elements to be drawn. See examples below

There is an issue with the user interface (property window) on another PC with a high resolution display. Will comment about it seperately.

Jon,

see Happy's and my last post about the Christmas illumination...

Give us a shout when a new patch/exe is available.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hubert,
The current plugin api only supplies one font call which is different to the mainline implementation. What platform are you seeing this issue on? I will see if I can get a patch into the mainline to start to cover this issue. The problem is that I don't have such a display to do the testing with.

Playing with the Tabled Scaled Graphics Interface options does not change the behavior - in the case of a standard waypoint or route the interface is ok.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

tonight I git fetch and recompiled watchdog_pi-1.9004-ov4.1.1108-win32 and ocpn_draw_pi-0.4.567-ov4.1.1108-win32 and tried them.

Tried Anchor Alarm, Boundary Alarm and Deadman. I have the alarms set properly.
The test button works. Generally, I have alarms set to repeat in 5 seconds.

The alarms still do not seam to work and the text does not change to red.

----

Unfortunately I am finding the outlines are not drawing either.
----
Is it possible to test using debug and get meaningful suggestions for Jon?
How would I do that?

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hi,
Patch 568 changes the z-order for objects being draw. This should ensure that the fill for a boundary is under the line and that the point icon is on top. Also for a boundary point the icon and the name should be on top of the fill for exclusion points.

This patch also reworks the blink code to hopefully make it more stable and give expected results. If you want a windows installable you can find one here:
https://github.com/jongough/ocpn_dra...leases/tag/568

At the moment I am not sure I can do anything about high resolution screens. I need to get an api change into the mainline to do what the waypoint rollover/popup does. If I cannot get the change made I will see if there is a way to do it within the plugin. However, I have no way of testing this as I do not have a high resolution screen.

Well, we have the system here - only think the turn-over time for testing is a bit slow this way...
Will test the rest this morning.
Thanks!

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon,

z-order for drawing with text and markers on top now much better.
This might resolve Rick's problem of invisible borders as well.

The blink-blink show is still there going proceding as described here:
http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1971331

And installing there is no way to get rid of the \OpenCPN at th end of the path. To be deleted manually.

Step by step...

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hubert,
I have just put up patch 569 to see if that will solve the high res screen issue. You can find a windows install here:
https://github.com/jongough/ocpn_dra...leases/tag/569

Below are screenshots of my install of the plugin. It installs, for me, in the correct location as long as I specify the root directory of the opencpn install.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hubert,
Each object on the screen that you have a properties box open will blink, so you can have a boundary blinking and a boundary point in that boundary, or you could have an isolated boundary point blinking at the same time as a boundary. I managed to get four objects blinking at the same time, but when the dialog boxes were closed they all stopped. This did not work reliably before.

The idea being that for each type of object you can easily identify which one you are working on by looking for the blinking.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Jon,

no difference for the hi-res issue with 569. Null.

For the install I will look if I do something different.

Jon,

when you go through the P&P Mgr it´s sufficient to select the object without going into properties to get it highlighted.

Do understand your reasoning.

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Hubert,
I cannot do anything with the fonts at the moment, but I made some changes to the dialog boxes to try and get them to size correctly. Are you saying that the dialog boxes still have the issue of only half displaying various objects?

Re: Ocpn-Draw and Boundary

Installing:
You are hitting the space bar to get the parallel installed versions shown.
Then selecting one you are getting the correct path.

Never did that:
With the base C:\programs\OpenCPN displayed (which I don´t want) I use "Browse" and then travel through the tree until getting to the install like ..\4.1.1108.
Hit "enter" or double-click you will get the \OpenCPN appended.

Your way is obviously more elegant and efficient

Strange stuff something for Pavel??
