O-charts plugin missing along with a few others.
I was using V5.6.2 but upgraded to V5.10.2, as I was having a few issues with 5.10 I decided to revert back to V5.6.2 and now I have the O-charts plugin missing, I've googled everywhere why but the answer is its built into Open cpn, I have previously upgraded from many previous of Open cpn without issues but now the plugin is missing and unable to load any charts, can someone shed any light on why.

"I was having a few issues with 5.10".
More specific info here would be helpful.
Meanwhile, you may be able to "import" the current o-charts plugin to O562.
Assuming Windows, here is the tarball import link:
https://dl.cloudsmith.io/public/open...0-win32.tar.gz
Good Luck

Re: O-charts plugin missing along with a few others.
Thanks Dave,
I have the same issue with V5.10.2 as I get with any version above V5.6, I loose (don't have) the ships heading predictor, the ships icon tracks sideways and I have no course over ground in the task bar only speed over ground, reverting back to V5.6 and all comes alive perfectly except this time I've lost the O-charts check box in the charts category and the O-charts plugin, updating the plugin registry doesn't apply the plugin in 5.6 so now no charts available.
Cheers Rod

Re: O-charts plugin missing along with a few others.
I've attached two screen shots for consideration, one shot is of V5.6.2 which will show speed & course over ground and course prediction bar but no charts will install because I have no O-charts plugin, the other screen shot is of V5.10.2 which does have the O-charts plugin and will show charts but will not show speed & course over ground & course prediction bar as observed in the task bar, both screen shots were taken 5mins apart, any Opencpn version above V5.6.2 gives me the same speed & course issue hence why I'm happy to stay with 5.6 but of course now I have no charts in 5.6.

On the 5.10.2, would be interesting to see the NMEA debug window, to see if there is any source of COG in the data stream.
Thanks

Re: O-charts plugin missing along with a few others.
Well I have a win of some sorts by copying an older version of the O-charts plugin from the 5.10.2 plugin cache folder and imported that into 5.6.2 and bingo all charts are now working in 5.6 along with everything else working correctly. This thing with the ships icon running sideways, no COG is only happening with any version above 5.6, I did have same issue with 5.8 and had run through it all on this forum including the debug window and nothing had been found wrong at that point, tried 5.10 up popped the same problem, it's all working now on 5.6.2 so I'll let be for now. Thanks for your time.

Ok Dave, thought I'd have another crack, here is the de-bug window from my V5.10.2 OCPN install that I'm getting no COG or course predictor line, maybe you can see an error somewhere.

Re: O-charts plugin missing along with a few others.

Your data stream contains VTG message, which can provide optionally COG-true and/or COG-magnetic. In your stream, the VTG message contains only COG-magnetic. This is a totally legitimate VTG message.
However, OpenCPN requires COG-true to set the orientation of the boat.
You may wish to activate the WMM plugin. This plugin provides the correct magnetic variation value so that OpenCPN can automatically convert from magnetic to true COG.
You can avoid all this by adjusting your GPS receiver to send RMC message only, dropping VTG and GLL. RMC contains all data necessary for basic navigation. That is why they named it "Recommended Message C".
Good Luck

Dave are you saying to just untick VTG & GLL from the accepted sentences check box? I have activated the WMM plugin with no change, what is really doing my head in is with all the same values using 5.6.2 it all works perfectly fine

Re: O-charts plugin missing along with a few others.

Looking into this further.
Bingo. Looks like a regression error in OCPN 5.10.2.
O 5.10.2 does not correctly handle COG and ownship heading calculation when the only source of COG is a magnetic "COG" value from a VTG sentence.
And this is what you have. It is a legitimate GPS setup, although not very common. That explains why this bug was not caught in Beta testing.
There is no simple solution before the next release of OpenCPN. Sorry.
However, if you have access to the configuration of your GPS receiver, you may try to reprogram the receiver to send the RMC sentence instead of GLL and VTG. This should resolve the issue.
Thanks
Dave

Re: O-charts plugin missing along with a few others.
Thanks Dave,
This COG issue first arose when I upgraded from 5.6.2.to 5.8 that's when I first had the problem, we tried to remedy it way back then with no results hence why I'm still on 5.6 so it seems 5.10 has inherited the same issue, at the moment I'm again back on 5.6 with it all working well so it looks like I'm not going to be able to upgrade which is a pity.
Cheers Rod.

The GPS we are using is a Furuno GP33, I wouldn't know where to start.

Re: O-charts plugin missing along with a few others.
Suppose you never thought to peruse the Furuno manual ?.
Perhaps page 9-10.
You must have configured the port as AP rather than REM1 or REM2. The manual clearly indicates that if the port is configured as AP it does not send a RMC sentence.
