O-chart plugin won't update

Hi!
I am running OpenCPN (vers. 5.2.4) on a raspberry Pi and couldn't download charts through the O-chart plug-in this morning. It told me the plug-in had to be updated (vers. 0.9). Nothing happened when trying to do the usual catalogue plug in update.

Can it be that I need to update opencpn? Or is it a way to reinstall the plug in?

works for me in the current version of OpenCPN 5.2.6 and plugin 1.0 on Pi.

So, updating is always a good idea.

I had that problem. You need to update ocpn to version 5.6.x and it should work ok.

Thanks! I am quite a beginner on raspberry. How do I easiest update opencpn? Just download the new, current version? Or are there any risks of losing my old charts?

if you are a newbie to Pi, as I am, then I recommend installing Openplotter. Part of it is OpenCPN and more important a GUI for updating all software needed for OpenCPN.

Then you habe to update the plugin via the Plugin manager built in in OpenCPN -> Options -> PlugIns -> Update Catalog an then update the plugin itself.

If you want to it the hard way, then you have to start terminal and type in something like sudo apt-get update opencpn

Your choice. I used option 1.

Thank you! It seems like a good option. I chose to only go with the "clean" opencpn because I was afraid that open plotter would be a slower program to run (I only have 2gb RAM), but maybe its no big difference?

Do you know if I can download open plotter and still keep the charts I bought and activated for my current system?

If you download the openplotter img and install that, this will result in a different system for the o-charts license.
