Norweigan maps

Hello Guys, ive been using your Open CPN navigation program for personal use, im workin captain on crewship so i have acess to the paid Ecdis and other plotters líka MaxSea and Olex,
Im sailing mostly in Norweigans Walter and www.Olex.no updates the whole Norveigan charts free every two weeks, you hafe to download them from the norweigan version of the Olex Page, undir link left on the side named Noregskart, that take you to download link where you can download the newest update of the chart, around 400mb, it Will include all Norveigan coast, Svalbard and Jan Mayen.
It would best exellent if there would be chance to add these chart option on the list of free chart for OpenCpn

The file downloads as an ".iso" file. How does one use this in OpenCPN?

This is probably a disc image file that needs "mounting".. so that it becomes like a folder full of content. Once unpacked this way, you should be able to get OpenCPN to use the files.

Dear Hordur (if this is your name),

thanks for the info.. I downloaded the data, mounted the iso file, unzipped the tgz file and tried to import it in OpenCPN, with no success.

Could it be, that it only runs on Windows? Since I see an application on the device, called installer?

Running on MacOs or RaspPi.

Maybe you could also give us some background: is this official data from the Norwegian Hydrographic Institute? And how come, that a company offers them for free?

As far as we know the charts for Norway are edited and licensed by Kartverket/Norwegian Mapping Authority - as we do for OpenCPN at o-charts.org.
No free downloads..
