no way to send a message to site admin

Hello
I have tried to send a message with this

https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/info/send.html

This concerns a link to modify inside the download page of OpenCPN

But when I send the message (through https://submit.jotform.com/submit/70397869235167) I get "403"

Is there an other way to write to the site admin ?

The content of the message is this :

"

Hello
I want to inform you that a link must be changed in the bottom of this page :
https://opencpn.org/OpenCPN/info/downloadopencpn.html

the href in the line 174 of this html file is no more :
https://madb.mageia.org/package/show/name/opencpn

since we use a new database for our rpms

the new href should be
for x86_64 :
https://madb.mageialinux-online.org/...=1&rpm=opencpn

and for arm64 :
https://madb.mageialinux-online.org/...=1&rpm=opencpn

Thanks for applying this modification

Filochard...

Strange. We of course did not get your note, since you got "403".
We regularly get such notes through this process, so I suppose is some problem with your ISP, or firewall, or VPN, if used.

In any event, we got the information, and will process the change.
Thanks
Dave

Re: no way to send a message to site admin

Hi bdbcat

thanks for your quick reply
Indeed it's strange :

no problem with my Firewall
no VPN used
no problem with my ISP
I use Firefox and allowed the cookies from OpenCPN and jotform
I'm registered on OpenCPN site and used my name and mail address to send this message

Nevertheless the most important is that you got this information for users willing to use OpenCPN and its plugins without needing to get it working inside Flatpak
(Mageia continues to provide them as rpms after having a little patched the sources so that it's still possible)

Re: no way to send a message to site admin

Hi again

I'm sorry to write again about the link for Mageia
there is a little problem : actually it should be :

https://madb.mageialinux-online.org/...=0&rpm=opencpn
(Mageia 9 is the last updated release)

and not :

https://madb.mageialinux-online.org/...=&group=&page=
(Mageia Cauldron is still a beta release not for simple users)

Re: no way to send a message to site admin

This looks super scammy. Mageia seems to still have the first domain, yet they are moving something to a fake looking domain? The only thing that makes it seem like it could be legit is the redirect from the madb subdomain.

Re: no way to send a message to site admin

Hi river

Indeed the last madb was based on data from a server that was no more updated and reached end of life (sophie.zarb.org).

Now madb has been totally rewritten and is now hosted by
mageialinux-online.org waiting to be hosted again on mageia.org...

That's is really not a fake domain ! it is maintained by some of the main Mageia contributors

I personally maintain for Mageia rpms of OpenCPN and its plugins (with little patches allowing to install them in a legacy way)
That allows to get rid of Flatpak that brings some problems to simple users and needs lots of heavy updates for itself...

The link in the bottom of the download page of OpenCPN is here only to inform that this distribution allows to use OpenCPN without Flatpak

You can read about what Mageia is doing with MADb and why in https://blog.mageia.org/en/2024/10/3...-with-the-new/ and https://blog.mageia.org/en/2024/11/0...e-is-new-madb/
