nmea0183 heading problem

Have been getting heading from mt Furuno sensor for over a year and it just quit. I jiggled (very technical term for a PHD in engineering so I hope others can understand the technique) the usb-to-ttl connector and it seeked to return a signal for short periods so I thought it was likely the connector. A new connector has not helped the problem. Any way to determine if the nmea0183 signal from the sensor is still valid? Thanks.

Re: nmea0183 heading problem

Within OCPN there is the NMEA debug window you may know about? (Options->connections->[x] NMEA Debug...)
There you can study what's coming in to the OCPN multiplexer, if anything.
If you receive something you can look further in to each sentence and try to find the trouble. If you don't find the sentence logic copy and publish here.
If nothing received you may check so the USB(COM)-port hasn't changed designation?
