NMEA Waypoint Transfer

Hi,

I am new to OpenCPN and was wondering if anyone could advise the easiest way to transfer waypoints from a Simrad CX44 to OpenCPN via NMEA0183. I already have the comunication setup between the PC and the CX44 and have verified it's operation but now want to find an easy way to do it. I know I can use hyperterminal and copy the waypoint data into a text file and then use GPS Babel to convert to GPX but was hoping there was a way to simplify the process.
