NMEA Data Output to Display / VHF

Good evening,

Sorry if this has already been asked but I am unable to find it. I was using a Garmin GPS12 with the NMEA output connected to the autopilot, to a repeater display outside and to the VHF for the distress all at the same time. I would like to do the same with OpenCPN working in a laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 with a GPS USB dongle. I have tried with the Autopilot output though the serial port (ttSy0) and the Autpilot works fine but the display only shows the autopilot specific sentences. I specially miss position, COG and SOG which are not in the autopilot output. I have also tried associated software like Gippy or PolarCom, and it works specially with PolarCom, then I can see the data in the display and in the VHF but OpenCPN don't have GPS position signal and the autopilot does not receive NMEA.

I think the fine solution would be to have position, COG and SOG NMEA sentences in the OpenCPN autopilot output, but noit sure if this is being accounted.
