Newby Q: Not seeing my waterway

My very first attempt to use OpenCPN, so I'm not surprised I'm having trouble. Exacerbated by the fact that I'm completely new to nautical navigation, though I've used 7.5' topos extensively, and am moderately competent user of ArcGIS and a Garmin handheld GPSr.

Yes I'm aware of the manual & help online - but at some point you just have to get started by doing, and I have this thing I want to do.

I want to take by boat to:

The Learning Garden
13577 Blake Dr
Port Charlotte, FL 33981
Lat/Long: 26.9008407,-82.2245922

I've added in several ENC charts, including

Estero Bay to Lemon Bay, including Charlotte Harbor;Continuation of Peace River

I am not seeing any detail of the residential area waterways I'd use to navigate my boat to this point. I do see the added chart detail out in the major waterways, indicating I've successfully loaded the chart.

Then I added the RNC chart of the same area (in case it has additional detail), but maybe it is covered by another layer (the ENC? Or is this area not covered? Or do I need to download some other chart? Or can I activate google maps (which *does* show waterway) within OpenCPN? There must be a way to turn on and off charts easily (as you might in adobe illustrator or photoshop)? How would I plot a course in this area if it isn't visible in OpenCPN/on the charts?

Is there coverage in this 'residential area' - or am I on my own because federal agencies do not map neighborhoods?

What's my best approach to this problem?

Thanks, Steve T.

a) a screen shot?
b) what happens if you select "all" for "Display Category" for vector charts (ENCs)?

When I go to this area I see this: (attachment)

Perhaps you are using the wrong charts?

Come on, he is using NOAA ENCs and you that CM93 set - from the yellow rectangles vs. the green ones.

This is what you should see with RNC chart 11426

Re: Newby Q: Not seeing my waterway

I managed to clear all my downloaded charts - by deleting them all (is that how you do it? I want to turn off layers instead!). Then loaded the 1 chart Kelkara indicated. It worked, thank you!
