Newbie to OpenCPN on Mac, I seemed to have hosed my display

I am playiing around with OpenCPN on my Mac. I am trying to work with charts from the eastern seabord, like Rhode Island up to Nova Scotia.

I seem to have gotten myself into a situation where the only chart I see is below. Previously, I was seeing actual charts, because I had used the Chart Loader to load them.

Please, give me a clue. Thanks!

I think maybe I opened it in safe mode, and maybe that's what hosed me. I don't have a backup. Should I reinstall?

From reading some other posts, I am trying the idea of removing the opencpn.ini file, and I will re-download some charts, and see if that works.

I followed the instructions for loading charts for the first time, and fingers crossed, I am back in business.

Dear Egilrichi,

you probably have installed several charts and only see the pilot chart, since it is a raster chart and thus not transparent.

Please refer to the manual how to create chart groups and by that steer which chart is visible and which is not.

You are single chart mode, not quilted.

Toggle the setting either with the "q" short-cut key or from the display menu ("Hamburger" down right).

In single chart mode the rectangles of the "chart piano" on the bottom have sharp corners, in quilted mode they will be rounded.

New to me feature. And not mentioned in the manual. AFAIK. Will think about adding it somewhere.

https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...face:chart_bar talks about quilting and single chart mode in abundant detail. Maybe the visual indication by the rounded/sharp corners is not mentioned prominently enough?
