newbie: oeSENC help

Hi guys,

New guy here. Currently running OpenCPN 5.0.0 with oeSENC plugin 4.0.10.

I'm having trouble downloading my chart that I purchased through o-charts. When I "refresh charts list" in the oeSENC tab, the chart appears. When I try to download the chart I get prompted to enter a system name for the computer. When I do so I keep getting "Invalid System Name. A system name is 3 to 15 characters in length. No symbols or spaces are allowed."

I've tried various names, including just "laptop" and nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Did you try the system name you used on the o-charts web site when you bought the charts?

are you sure that there are no spaces at the beginning or the end of the system name?


What operating system you are on?

I don't believe I was ever asked for a system name at the time of purchase. Maybe I missed it, I'll investigate.

I just tried again and made sure. Hit backspace a few times, entered "laptop" with the same results. I keep thinking I'm missing something stupid but I just can't figure it out for the life of me. I tried the max and min character limits too.

I'm on Windows 10 x86.

if you look at the small manuals at o-charts
https://manuals.o-charts.org/oesenc_en_US.html


you will find two ways installing charts:
online and offline.
The usual and more comfortable way is online:
- refresh chart list
- select chart to install
- indicate system for the set
- install


When you go to Options|plug-ins|oeSENC --> preferences
you shall see your system name there. And you can reset it as well from there.


The system assignment at the shop is only required for the offline method.

Thank you for the assistance. The offline method with electronic fingerprint worked great. All charts downloaded.
