Re: New Zealand: ENC now in S-63 format for free
I had the NZ S63 charts working, then put my harddisk into a new computer, and now the S63 doesn't load (presumably related to the hardware change). How can I easily get back up and running (hopefully without going through the whole process again?)

Re: New Zealand: ENC now in S-63 format for free
Just create a new OpenCPN InstallPermit for the "new" device. You can use then the existing installed cells and S-63 cell permits.

Re: New Zealand: ENC now in S-63 format for free
The S-63 UserPermit is not time limited nor has changed in content or format.
You can use the same one to license the NZ charts.

So you mean go to https://o-charts.org/shop/en/module/ocpermits/ocpermits and then click my permit and I need to upload a fingerprint file?
Then do I have to download something and put it back in opencpn?
All rather confusing and I can't find the original instructions I followed.

Unless you’ve already created two fingerprints (the limit), then allow the subscription to expire, then replace one of your computers. You can’t recover the charts. That’s what happened to me, very annoying.

Re: New Zealand: ENC now in S-63 format for free
To elaborate a little bit, what LINZ calls a "system" is your UserPermit. For each UserPermit you can generate up to 5 InstallPermits. Each InstallPermit is valid for one computer system and can't be transfered to another machine.
The LINZ system allows you to have 2 different UserPermits (This comes from the ECDIS world, where every licensee can have a "main" and "backup" user permit) for which it generates your cell permits, which means, if you have 2 "systems" subscribed with LINZ, you can use the charts on up to 10 different computers.

Re: New Zealand: ENC now in S-63 format for free
Hello,
I just went through the registration process and went all the way to downloading the pack (January 2023 release).
It's not that simple. You have to dig deep into the website to understand what to do.
But, I'm stuck.
I understood that I have to wait for the import permit to arrive from Lindz.
If so, I should know tomorrow. I'll come back to talk about it here.

You will get an e-mail (In my experience within a few hours) that tells you your cell permits are ready, you then download PERMIT.TXT from "Systems and subscriptions" page of your account. Then import it in the plugin and you are ready to import the base chart cell set and then updates.

Thank you for your indication. I received the permit.txt. But, I failed to display the maps.
A question :
On the Lindz website I read this: " In addition, your navigation system should be configured for use with the ‘IHO S-63 Scheme Administrator certificate’.(S-63 page of the IHO website) This certificate relates to the ENC authentication process – see below. Systems configured for use with non IHO S-63 Scheme Administrator certificates may have difficulty loading NZ ENCs. "
Is it necessary to obtain this "IHO S-63 Scheme Administrator certificate"?

Re: New Zealand: ENC now in S-63 format for free
The certificate comes with the plug-in - no issue.
You did follow the manual?
- S-63 UserPermit in place
- OpenCPN InstallPermit in place
- Install Cell Permits (i.e. Permit.txt)
- Install cells
Any messages?
