Yes nmea data for depth sounder and wind instrumentation. In my boat this data is NMEA and provided to Opencpn.

Data from the depth sounder could be quite useful when anchored and the bow is tide up to shore/rocks. The tide difference is up to 1,5 meter here.

Could it help if I send you Nmea data from the Voyage Data Recorder?
We, all of us, need to get Sean a good used set of Nmea output Instruments!
Will someone who is changing out their instruments please send Sean the old set?
That would help everyone!
PS: I had a possibility for a set of instruments for him from a friend, but the friend decided not to change the instruments, so keep your ears open and ask the person, to help Sean!!!!

Re: New Watchman Plugin

Sean has updated Watchdog again. Below are shots of WD working with AIS Guard Zones from ODraw. Guard Zones are a powerful new tool

Also the plugin documentation needs to be revised and updated. Are there any volunteer Editors?

Re: New Watchman Plugin

Sean......
Commit "correct watchdog so that autofollow doesn't reset the deadman alarm" now tested in Win10. Works very fine.
I saw you've closed the tracker issue, very good!
Thanks

Hi everybody,

I must admit I have neglected the forum a bit the last months, but today I've made an attempt to update the Watchdog PI documentation. I have not implemented that update on the website yet but I have attached 2 documents (I had to split the original in two and had to compress the illustrations to be able to upload it to the forum).
You might find it a (way) too elaborated so I'd appreciate your comments. Also don't hesitate to correct me were I've made mistakes!

Regards and happy sailing,
Roel

Re: New Watchman Plugin

Roel those are great illustratons and writeup. Thankyou! When I am back at the computer shortly, I will update the plugin docs you created before, or if you'd like to do it just go ahead!

I particularly like your tricolor guard zones they are visual and useful.

I think it would be great if ODraw had a way of preserving user settings such as this, or perhaps some good standard guard zone setups that are a one button action. Then of course watchdog could sense that standard guard zone setup and have a one button alarm setup.

A new flyspray enhancement request for OD 1.4 perhaps? Also, a flyspray enhancement request for WD. There are quite a few requests now in the forums, but they are likely to get lost if not recorded in flyspray as some of these postings are quite long!

Re: New Watchman Plugin

Roel,
Good work on the doco. I was trying to get OD 1.2 ready and did not have enough time before going to the boat to do the doco so was hoping that someone would come up with a clear easy description of the new facilities. Well done.

Hello Rick (& Jon),
Thanks for the positive feedback. I will try to update the WD-pi documentation today (too windy to go sailing...)

Done... time for a beer!
Rick, FYI:I only updated the WATCHDOG-section (as that is the part I have been working on earlier) but have not changed anything in the DRAW-section.

Re: New Watchman Plugin

Roel, Thankyou!
Since the two plugins work hand in glove so to speak, perhaps a link and reference in OD docs will be adequate notice for a user to learn the new features?
Then later the OD docs can be augmented. Great job for some awesome collaborative work by Jon and Sean.

Re: New Watchman Plugin

Just a question. I probably have missed something. I thought I was documenting the Watchdog plugin, but now I'm more than a bit puzzled by the use of both the terms "Watchman" and "Watchdog". Are they two separate things?

hi Roel,

The plugin watchman has been renamed as watchdog.
