I think that is intended. Just half a dozen or so of the new SVG ones labelled 100%*.*

Scaling turned off.

The cardinal in the screenshot is 7mm high. Perhaps they are just a little large.

On this monitor I usually set the toolbar scaling to -2 (note that scaling is off for this test), and have chart objects scaling at default.

Old standard anchor shown for comparison. old and new type-A buoys also compared.

Note: buoy is mis-spelt as bouy in the old icon set.

Cheers
Moo,

can you perhaps add a short route and a standard marker for comparison as in my example? Helps to evaluate the set-up.

Moo,

I actually like the size of yours. I'm having trouble understanding why there is such a big difference between yours and mine. Mine are tiny and I've got no scaling set.

Gene,

what is "detected screen size" of your system?
The correct one (horizontal in mm) reported?

Here is my laptop screen shot - 17" monitor 1600 x 900 resolution.
The icon size is perfect for me. The only issue is that the transparent icons show flat colours.

Hubert,

Not sure what you mean by "detected screen size"? It's a 19". Not a widescreen.

Gene...

OpenCPN tries to detect the screen size and resolution of the screen in order to size and scale objects correctly.
This shows up in Options - see below - and in the log file. There you shall find an entry about detected screen size as well.

The other parameter one can play with is the Chart Object Scale Factor from Options| User interface

Okay! Looking at the options it says 376mm. That matches the physical measurement.

On my laptop, it makes no difference to manually change the mm setting. The icons appear the same size regardless the mm measurement I type in. .... unless I'm missing something!?

Hubert,

I also changed the Chart Object Scale Factor. It changes depth soundings and other chart objects but has no effect on the SVG icon sizes. It does however, change the size of the PNG icons! Strange!!

The Chart Object Scale Factor works on my laptop - the svg icon changes sizes as I change the slider setting. Did you click the "Apply" button before clicking the "OK" button?

Re: New Standard Waypoint Icons For OpenCPN - Input Requested

Is the Enable Scaled Graphics Interface ticked? (Just above the sliders)

For example the obstruction icon will be rendered for me with 2-4-8mm for a scale factor of -5 - 0 - +5

Re: New Standard Waypoint Icons For OpenCPN - Input Requested

I never clicked okay, only apply and saw everything but the Icons get larger. It appears to rescale the icons after you click ok. The Enable Scaled Graphics option didn't seem to have any effect. It changed them regardless of whether that was set or not. Below is a screen print when set to 5. They still aren't very large.

Re: New Standard Waypoint Icons For OpenCPN - Input Requested

How will the SVG icon distribution work? Will the icons be distributed and installed as part of the OpenCPN executable file or will the end user be required to self install them in the Usericons folder?

If the end user is required to self install in the Usericons folder, a solution might be to provide the icons in collections of various sizes - eg. small, medium, large, x-large.
