Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Bonjour pavel,

Téléchargé, installé, testé avec Brazil ..... Wouahhhhh Fantastique !

Just a wanted feature. Is it possible to add, automatically, the name of zone (here Brazil) or the name of state in the name of IAC file ?

Deva...
Just select the download of the last 6 datasets and then circle through them in the file list using up/down arrows.
If you mean automatic animation of a selected set of files, feel free to file a feature request in https://github.com/nohal/iacfleet_pi/issues

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Hello Pavel,

In the language file, there are two items that puzzle me:
- Trough Is it "Trough" or "Through" ?
- Col is it "Colum" or an other word ?

Other question :
This site web is it relevant in explaining "Doldrum belt"?

Gilletarom.

Sorry, my previous post was incomplete. I forgot to put the link in my question about the explanation of "Doldrum belt". This is the link :

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Hi Pavel

Did you investigate why the NOAA files do not show using your latest dll (see #7 and #20 on this thread) ?

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Francois...
Yes, the reason is obvious - both Nadi and the Brazilians use the octant position format (marked by 33388 in the dataset header) while NOAA uses the half-degree northern-hemisphere format (marked by 33300), which the plugin a) does not understand and b) ignores.
The parser has to be extended to understand the US data.
Further there is a difference in the identifier of the analysis and the 24h forecast (I hope just in the first header 10001 vs. 65556 + 00024)
Both should be pretty easy to implement.
For the curious, the related mental food can be found at http://docs.lib.noaa.gov/rescue/CircM_N/CIRC-0106.PDF

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

New build 0.4 is out
  • Both NOAA North Atlantic and Europe analysis and forecast, including automatic download, are now supported
  • The parsing should now be more robust for all the datasets
  • The pressure values guessing should be better in 900/1000 magic as it now also takes type of the system into account

Windows and Mac installer packages: https://sourceforge.net/projects/ope...s/iacfleet_pi/
Linux packages are in the beta PPA:
Code:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install openpcn-plugin-iacfleet
or if you installed the previous build, just get the updates

Have fun

Pave

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

Hi Pavel

Great try for the NOAA files

Comparing with Zygrib display, a few snags seem around
- The thalwegs (dashed lines on Zygrib) are missing. Confusion with throughs T ?
- I like the way Zygrib labels the isobars (4 hPa spacing), as opposed to center High and Low values
- The pair of occluded fronts over Ireland, UK and France is bungled..

Re: New IAC Fleetcode Plugin for OpenCPN

New build 0.5 is out
  • A set of selected files can be run as animation
  • The parser should now be more robust, especially while decoding the NOAA datasets
  • Multi-position trough pressure systems are now rendered as green lines to be more consistent with zyGrib
  • The tropical systems are now labeled according to their type
