Will Navionics directENC S63 charts purchased from chartworld work with the opencpn / S63 plugin ??

directENC is a proprietary format of Chartworld. Not for OCPN.

As far as we know, the Navionics chart sets from Chartworld are coming in plain S-63 format. The base chart material is from Navionics and Chartworld licenses these charts in the S-63 format for users who do not require official charts.
Update period is twice a year.

We know about scenarios where these chart sets are composed by numerous very small rectangular cells. Not all chart sets but those for Bahamas or some Pacific regions we have seen.

OCPN struggles today if there are too many vector charts open at a time.
This will change in the future, but should be considered when going for the Navionics sets.

Ok, I found the navionics plain s-63. Only a limited area is required so this should work well ??

Depends on the region. We know that people from Norway have licensed charts and we have not heard any complaints.

Im from Norway and just installed s63 charts from chartworld, i cant understand it but before going into overzoom (one click before), the details goes away. I can't reccomend these charts to any fishermen if i cant zoom atleast one step more before overzoom (navionics charts). Also sonarcharts would be the best option for fishing but don't think opencpn supports them.
Also had a problem with depth sounding not showing in map. A workaround for this is
Activate "Options->UserInterface->ShowMenuBar (Sounds strange, but
works...)"

You are not using the highest resolution map, try clicking on the left green bar, or use the chart scale keys, F7 - F8 to change chart scale and you will see more details.
