Multiple Formats for Mark Coordinates

Attached is the source patch kit #7, that allows entering coordinates in the Mark Properties dialog in many formats. The idea is to copy/paste the coordinates directly from electronic Maritime Safety Publications, like Notices to Mariners, Pilots, etc. in .pdf , web pages, etc.

I tested the following formats:

US NGA pdf: (45° 47.2′ S 170° 43.1′ E)

US NGA www: (51° 26.0' N 3° 08.4' E)

US NGA txt: (57ş20.4'N 11ş08.0'E)

US NGA pdf deg, min, sec - (7°14′07″N 100°34′44″E) or (38 58 01 N 74 57 32 W) or NGA WWW (51° 08' 30" N 1° 28' 53" E)

UKHO pdf: (54-06.5N 014-27.8E) or (58° 08´·2N., 2° 59´·6E.) or (54 06·50 N 14 27·80 E)

UKHO pdf deg min sec (34° 38´ 56·3"N., 135° 23´ 29·7"E.)

German BSA www: (54° 06,500' N 014° 27,8005' E )

German BSA pdf: (54-21n 013-51e)

Polish BHMW www: (SZER = 54-06,500 N DŁUG = 014-27,80 E)

Spanish Avisos a los navegantes www (38-35.5N 000-46.4E)

French SHOM .pdf (52° 55,75' N— 3° 14,25' E)

Dutch pdf (51-26,87 N 003-33,18 E)

Swedish pdf (59-29,017N 17-34,097E)

Google Earth: (54° 06.500'N 14° 27.800'E) or (54.108334° 14.463333°)

GPX (54.108334, 14.463333)

OCPN DMM (54 6.500 N 14 27.8 E)

I take a practical approach rather than formal check for correctness, but the user should be no worse off with it than in base OCPN 1.3.6.

Opinions from experienced wx programmers welcome, since I not sure it is portable (or elegant) enough.

Piotr

Thanks once again, Piotr. I'll take a look when I get a chance. Others' feedback after patch and testing would be great. My opinion is, if this is no worse than 1.3.6, it should go into the code base (in cvs) ASAP.

Superb idea as always, Pjotr, I've had this exact issue you're solving there before.

Thank you for kind words, but...

1. I should like to apologize to the German Hydrographic Authority (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie) for misspelling the abbreviated name - it should read BSH, not BSA. Sorry.

2. I'd like to have the same functionality for GPX points import. Alas, GPX standard does not seem to allow for alternate formats...

3. There is room for improvement. I have a feeling this should be just 3-4 lines in wxRegEx... not ready yet

Hehe! Well I'm too stupid to apply your patches in the right order so don't worry about the minor shortcomings

I've had issues with GPX actually, my exported opencpn gpx tracks wouldn't import into google earth which was rather annoying..
