Migrating meteovache_pi to managed plugin scheme

Hi All,

I started migrating meteovache_pi to the new Managed Plugin scheme. It seems to work pretty well on Linux and Windows targets. However, it crashes with Android version.
Before entering the dark tunnel of OCPN's compilation/debug under android, I have a few question :
- I bought Dave Register's version of OCPN on Play Store : version 5.6.2. I use ShipDriver_pi lastest release tag as base to compile meteovache_pi with Plusign API 1.16. Is it compatible ?

- Any idea of simple classical thing that could explain this crash and avoid me to setup an android debug environment ?

Thanks !

If some of you are interested in testing meteovache pi on MacOS, it would greatly help me since I have no Mac. Here are all binaries :
https://cloudsmith.io/~meteovache_pi...lpha/packages/

Be careful that if the plugin crashes, you will have to remove it manually from the OCPN tree.

Best regards,

Ronan.

Ronan...

Installs and starts just fine on a Mac, the form is empty though - is that intended?

Yes, just right click on the map, you should have a new entry at the bottom to request forecast. It should fill the form with weather data.

Thanks for testing !

Ah, OK

This is how it looks on a Retina display, the layout feels slightly broken.

nohal..
On Win the first start there was a text advice on the form to use the canvas right click menu. Could that text be invisible on Mac? (white on white?)

Re: Migrating meteovache_pi to managed plugin scheme

Interesting ! The white area on top is for a summary text. It seems that it is white text on white background. This is probably due to your dark theme. I should be able to reproduce this with Linux. I'm probably not selecting the text color properly.

The wind arrows are "eaten" because the font is bigger than the PI expects, or something like this. I suspect this is due to the retina screen and its very high resolution. I should also be able to reproduce it on Linux or Windows.

Thanks again for your time.

Pretty possible, it looked empty. Which well may be caused by my system using the dark theme, so the default system text color is white...

Re: Migrating meteovache_pi to managed plugin scheme

Hi Ronan,

How could I test/install the plugin in O_5.8?

I've searching in plugins: master, alfa & beta with no success.

It seems to be quite useful

For now, until Ronan submits it to the catalog, you download the tarball from the Cloudsmith repository linked in the first post, then import it in the plugin manager, then install it.

sorry I haven't clear enough, I only have windows based computers, I've been in that location and there is no windows version (or I didn't see it), I haven't MacOS I should have to steel it to my daughter (and she's independent) and for sure that I wouldn't be able even to switch it on

I show that file but when they end in a tar.gz extension I always assume that are linux-like files

Re: Migrating meteovache_pi to managed plugin scheme

Hi Ronan & Nohal,

It seems that I'm not so useless as I believe myself

I've been able to install the plugin, just RTFM & splash info in the program.

FTB I do not see any bug, but why are there some text mixed Spanish/English?

if needed I could try translate it to Spanish if you tell me the path/address for doing it.

this has been my first attempt of requesting weather data with this plugin.
(by the way, it's really frustrating that in North Spain we have no rain at all)

Re: Migrating meteovache_pi to managed plugin scheme

Hi Corsair63,

Meteovache is not (yet) translated to Spanish, so if there are some words translated to Spanish it might be because some words are translated from the global OpenCPN translation file...

I will first continue to clean-up/fix the plugin but then I will see how to translate it to new languages (my daughter loves Spanish and will help me )

I will check how to publish the plugin on the official plugin catalog and register Linux, Windows and MacOS versions in *alpha* catalog.

Thanks for testing !
