Migrate OpenCPN 2.1.0 build 624a to latest Open CPN

I use the OpenCPN 2.1.0 build 624a the last 2 years and want to update at the latest version.

Can someone advice how can I migrate my WP, marks and all other tracking info that already create?

It should just work without any manual action. BUT even though I personally pay a lot of attention to testing the upgrades between versions, I don't go 5 years back (wow, it really will be 5 years since 2.1 next month...) and doubt anybody really tested skipping so many releases. So !make a backup of the complete OpenCPN data directory!, install 4.0 over your current version and report back if the upgrade is problematic - we will have a look at it and migrate your data somehow.

The first test from ver 2 upgrate to ver 4, fail to migrate the data.

Recognize the old version, remove it but no existing data migrate.

I will test from ver 2 to ver 3 and will inform you

The update from OpenCPN 210 to 322 do not migrate or update any existing mark or waypoint.

Does anyone can give an advice how to migrate the opencpn.ini data to navobj.xml format?

Just in case anybody else needs to migrate the data, I wrote a script to take the waypoints stored in the configuration file of (very) old OpenCPN versions and convert them to GPX. You can find it at https://github.com/nohal/OpenCPNScri...obj_ini2gpx.py
